Job summary

General Motors is seeking a seasoned PLM Solutions Architect for Engineering Product Development to design and deliver end-to-end Teamcenter solutions. You will collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders to translate data structures and change cycles into actionable specifications, and align eBOM/dBOM with Configuration management.

Hybrid work in Michigan with relocation support where available; you will lead UAT, build training plans, and guide global rollout of PLM initiatives

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of hands-on experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM solutions architecture and deployment.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent.
• Experience configuring multi-tier Teamcenter environments (Web, Enterprise, FMS/FSC).
• Understanding of vehicle program lifecycles and variant-rich configuration management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct workshops with engineering and business stakeholders to understand data structures, change cycles, and variant management needs and translate into technical specs.
• Design end-to-end solutions for multi-level Product BOMs, variant configurations, and eBOM/dBOM alignment.
• Define how Teamcenter capabilities should be leveraged, and map business objects and relationships for BMIDE input.
• Collaborate with PLM Technical Lead to provide functional requirements, wireframes, and business logic for customization.
• Architect engineering change management workflows and ensure compliance rules.
• Oversee UAT and verify deployments meet business intent; lead troubleshooting.
• Develop business process models, user stories, and product backlogs from definition to production.
• Partner with stakeholders to build UAT and training plans for smooth transitions.
• Lead workshops with end-users to map complex process flows.

Job Description The Role At GM, Engineering Product Development

At GM, Engineering Product Development supports the design and release of vehicle systems, components, and parts from concept through production. The work includes developing and maintaining vehicle engineering bills of material (BOMs), managing part definitions and attributes, coordinating design changes and release activities, ensuring product data is accurate and traceable, and partnering with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers, and other functions to support vehicle programs. This organization helps ensure vehicle content is well-defined, integrated, and ready for manufacturing, service, and ongoing product updates.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct workshops with engineering and business stakeholders to deeply understand their data structures, engineering change cycles, and variant management needs, and translate these into clear technical specifications.
• Design end-to-end solutions for multi-level Product BOMs, variant configurations, effectivity controls, and the alignment between Engineering BOMs (eBOM) and Design BOMs (dBOM).
• Define how Teamcenter out-of-the-box capabilities should be leveraged versus where customization is required, and map business objects, attributes, and relationships for the technical team to input into the Business Modeler Integrated Development Environment (BMIDE).
• Work hand-in-hand with our established PLM Technical Lead and development team to provide them with functional requirements, structural wireframes, and business logic to guide their custom development.
• Architect the functional flow of engineering change management processes, ensuring workflow templates and access managers match business compliance rules.
• Oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT), validate that the technical team's deployments meet the original business intent, and lead functional troubleshooting.
• Own the development of business process models, functional and non-functional user stories, and product backlogs from initial project definition through to production transition.
• Partner directly with business stakeholders to build and execute comprehensive UAT and training plans, ensuring smooth application transitions.
• Independently lead and facilitate workshops with end-users, asking probing questions to elicit deep business process discussions and map complex process flow diagrams.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• 5-7 yrs of experience in an applicable business environment, specifically focusing on Siemens Teamcenter PLM solutions architecture, deployment, and hands-on environment configuration.
• Bachelor's degree (technical discipline preferred, such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems) or equivalent experience.
• Practical, technical literacy in installing, patching, tuning, and configuring multi-tier Teamcenter environments (Web, Enterprise, FMS/FSC tiers).
• Thorough understanding of vehicle program lifecycles, component tracking, and variant-rich configuration management (options/features).
• Robust understanding of automotive product lifecycles, configuration management, and large scale Teamcenter enterprise transformations.

• Highly structured approach to managing personal output and driving team sprint velocity.
• Proactive approach to executing tasks, building functional blueprints, debugging environment configurations, and driving projects to completion.
• Strong risk-management capability to call out system bottlenecks, downstream Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) data drops, or design gaps early.
• Ability to synthesize complex technical Teamcenter dependencies for executive review with little to no direction.
