Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Michigan is seeking a qualified Surgical Technologist to assist the OR team with instrument handling, supplies, and equipment during general to moderately complex procedures.

Under supervision, you will support patient preparation, transport, and assist the surgical care team, while responding promptly to emergent situations following established protocols. A high school diploma and Surgical Technology training are required with BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures and patient care in the OR.

_ GENERAL SUMMARY_ :

Under direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, responsible for the handling of surgical instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during general to moderately complex surgical procedures. Ensures understanding of the assigned surgical procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the assigned surgeon and surgical team members. Also provides service support related to patient preparation, patient transport, and assisting surgical care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.

_ Qualifications: Qualifications

_ EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED_ :

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.

_ CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED_ :

• Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.
• Surgical Technologist certification required or 3-5 years of experience supporting complex high acuity surgical volume, as defined above, in lieu of a certification.

6:30am - 5:00pm
40 hours per week, weekend rotation
