UCLA Health in West Hills, CA is seeking a Sr. Surgical Tech to support the surgical team. The role involves completing sterile setups, maintaining the sterile field, and preparing instruments and supplies for procedures while following physician preference cards.

The candidate will be responsible for aseptic technique, medication labeling, and anticipating needs during procedures, with on-call duties on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned.

Competenze

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Ability to independently scrub surgical procedures.
• Current Surgical Technologist certification.
• Demonstrated proficiency scrubbing in at least two complex surgical specialties/services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Sr. Surgical Tech completes surgical set‑ups according to department standards and physician preference cards. The Surgical Tech is a member of the surgical team providing care to the patient and is responsible for maintaining the sterile field; surgical instrumentation; preparation of supplies and equipment; as well as other related duties. Duties include anticipating physician needs at the sterile field, preparing supplies, instruments and equipment. The Surgical Tech is responsible for implementing aseptic technique, practices related to prevention of retained foreign objects, safe medication labeling and handling, anticipatory skills related to the sequence of the procedure, specimen handling, and adhering to department policies, procedures, and practices.

Job Qualifications

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• Ability to independently scrub surgical procedures
• Current Surgical Technologist certification
• Demonstrated proficiency scrubbing in at least two complex surgical specialties/services
