Norton Healthcare in Indiana is seeking a Sr. Surgical Technician to support the operative team.

You will focus on preparation and handling of instrumentation and surgical equipment and assist the surgeon during procedures. The role requires adapting to changing situations in the OR, applying aseptic technique and medical terminology knowledge, and ensuring patient safety from neonate to geriatric populations.

Formación

• Three years as a Surgical Technician and CST/CSA certification.
• Diploma OR three years of surgical tech experience OR successful completion of a Surgical Tech Apprentice Program.
• One of: CST, CSA, TS-C, CORST, CSFA.

Responsabilidades

• Assist surgeon during intra-operative procedures and support the surgical team.
• Prepare and handle instrumentation and surgical equipment for procedures.
• Apply aseptic technique and knowledge of medical terminology and the metric system.
• Adapt to urgent or emergency situations and plan effectively during surgeries.

Responsibilities

The Sr. Surgical Technician assists other members of the health care team in the delivery of patient care during the intra-operative period. The major focus for the position is on preparation and handling of instrumentation and surgical equipment and assisting the surgeon during the surgical procedure. This individual administers care and use of equipment applications based on the age and needs of the patient population served (neonate through geriatric). The Sr. Surgical Technician must be knowledgeable of specific procedures or specialties, effectively prioritize, and effectively plan and problem solve due to the changing nature of the work situation during surgical procedures. This individual must have the ability to recognize the need for immediate response during urgent or emergency situations. The Sr. Surgical Technician must also have basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system and aseptic technique, and apply this knowledge in all patient and family interactions.

Qualifications

Required

• Three years as a Surgical Technician and certification as a Surgical Tech (CST) or Surgical Tech Assist (CSA)
• Diploma OR three years of surgical tech experience OR successful completion of a Surgical Tech Apprentice Program
• One of: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA), Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C), Certified Operating Room and Surgical Technician (CORST), or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
