Job summary

Summit Surgical, LLC is seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to assist in operations, ensure the operating room is prepared, and help procedures run smoothly.

The role covers instrument setup, sterilization, passing instruments, maintaining sterile fields, patient positioning, specimen handling, inventory control, and close collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to deliver safe patient care. A CST certification and formal training are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
• Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST) by a recognized body preferred.
• Previous OR experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures, excellent attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for use.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures during surgery.
• Maintain a sterile field and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
• Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including positioning, draping, and preoperative care as needed.
• Handle and label specimens taken for laboratory analysis.
• Monitor and manage the inventory of surgical supplies and equipment.
• Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room after procedures.
• Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of the procedure, including counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as state and federal guidelines.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
• Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST) by a recognized certifying body (e.g., NBSTSA) preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience as a surgical technician in an operating room setting preferred.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures, excellent attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and effective communication skills.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move patients and surgical equipment as necessary, prolonged periods of standing and walking, ability to handle physical and emotional stress.

Work Schedule

Regular schedule is based on patient volume and surgical schedule. Schedule is set by the Nursing Management prior to shift's start.
