Job Summary:

Hitachi Astemo Americas, Inc. is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join its team in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. This position, under limited direction, will perform complex quality assurance assignments requiring diversified knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance to cost-effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives. The role will also proactively seek and implement initiatives to improve operations and increase customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure contract compliance by reviewing and approving quality requirements for supplier purchase orders, manufacturing, and related services.
2. Collaborate with representatives from various functional groups assigned to the product or program, including design engineering, purchasing, production, manufacturing engineering, and inspection staff.
3. Work with engineers and product specialists to ensure customer and division quality requirements are met for supplier parts.
4. Review design, manufacturing, and testing documentation from suppliers.
5. Facilitate planning and development of quality control systems for supplied components, specified products, or processes.
6. Support the development of quality metrics, design, and production certification plans for program changes to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements.
7. Support and develop quality criteria for supplier selection activities.
8. Advise suppliers and customers, recommending changes to improve quality and optimize operations.
9. Lead reviews and Kaizens to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
10. Develop and select methods for analysis, testing, and audits to ensure supplier controls.
11. Assist in developing standards and repairs for non-conformances of purchased components.
12. Develop and implement corrective action plans for supplied parts.
13. Perform benchmarking and advanced analysis to ensure process capability levels are achieved by purchased components.
14. Evaluate new technologies and methods, making recommendations regarding their use.
15. Plan, assemble, and present data to senior management and customers to support supplied component activities.
16. Advise management in resolving complex quality assurance problems requiring in-depth technical knowledge.

Requirements:

• More than 3 years of experience in manufacturing or manufacturing support environment.
• More than 3 years of experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes and implementing corrective actions.
• More than 3 years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
• Knowledge of Quality Systems (PPAP/IPPAAR part approval, CAPA corrective/preventive actions).
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), print interpretation.

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry from an accredited institution.

Experience: 5 - 10 years in a quality or engineering position.

Physical Demands: Sit or stand for long periods; may occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds; occasional overtime required.

Travel: Some domestic and international travel up to 20% may be required.
