Job summary

EDG Inc. in Houston seeks a Sr. Structural Engineer to design steel and concrete structures and pipelines for onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities. You will conduct analyses, prepare designs and manage project documentation from concept through startup.

The role requires a BS in Structural or Civil Engineering, ten years of oil & gas experience, and proficiency with SACS/STAAD. P.E. designation is strongly preferred. Travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Coordinate with project managers, engineers and drafters to complete tasks.
• Develop project calculations and documentation using Mathcad, Word and Excel.
• Prepare regulatory submittals (e.g., BSEE, USCG, ABS).
• Lead structural engineering tasks on multi-discipline projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage resources and schedules.

JobSummary:

The Sr. Structural Engineer is responsible for the design ofsteel and concrete structures and pipelines related to new and existing onshoreand offshore oil and gas facilities.Included functions encompass assessment, analysis, and detailed designof platforms, foundations, skids, pipelines, risers and relatedappurtenances.This involves projectphases from conceptual engineering through construction, installation, andstart-up.Design specifications,regulatory compliance, and project documentation are additional functions ofthis position.Coordinating with anddirecting Designers and Drafters of structural and other disciplines isrequired to accomplish project tasks. A Senior Engineer may also be required tobe the Lead Structural Engineer on a multi-discipline project.

JobDuties and Responsibilities:

• Conceptual, preliminary and detailedstructural analysis and design, related to a variety of onshore and offshore,oil & gas facility projects;
• Perform structural analysis utilizing theSACS suite of computer programs (analysis types include In-place, loadout,transportation, installation, fatigue, and non-linear (pushover));
• Effectively reference current AISC, ASCE, API,AWS, ISO, and other industry regulatory, and project specific standards andcodes;
• Work on multiple projects of moderate size orportions of major projects;
• Develop project calculations and documentationusing tools such as Mathcad, MS Word and MS Excel;
• Develop regulatory submittals (e.g.: BSEE,USCG, ABS, etc.);
• Utilize existing project guidelines and designtools;
• Interface with design team which may comprise:project managers, engineers, drafters and support staff;
• Research, learn, develop and implement variousdesign techniques which may be industry specific;
• Perform the necessary field work to obtainaccurate information required to complete the assigned task;
• Manage Structural Engineering portion ofmulti-discipline project;
• Assignwork to junior engineers, mentor, and check quality of their work;
• Estimateresources require for project execution;
• ManageStructural Engineering budget and schedule;
• Interfacewith client representatives;
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• BS in Structural or Civil Engineeringrequired;
• P.E. designation strongly preferred;
• Requires ten (10) years experience in designof oil and gas facilities;
• Requires experience in the design of onshorefoundations;
• Knowledge and experience utilizing structuraldesign codes including AISC, ACI and ASCE design guidelines;
• Ability to utilize applicable engineeringsoftware such as SACS and STAAD;
• Strong knowledge and skill with MathCAD, MSExcel and MS Word;
• Ability to complete discipline related dutiesindependently;
• Ability to complete tasks that areclient/project specific with high level direction;
• Familiarity with total project systems whichwould include mechanical, structural, civil and electrical components to allowconsideration of those aspects in design;
• Ability to work on multiple projectssimultaneously;
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff(support, interdisciplinary project teams, management, etc.);
• Strong written and verbal communicationsskills;
• May require the ability to work overtime ortravel to offsite work locations.

WorkingConditions:

• Work is primarily conducted in an officeenvironment (Private or Semi-Private office) but may require occasional travelto off-site work locations;
• Field duties may require outdoor work in aplant or offshore platform atmosphere;
• Interaction with other team members, as wellas supervisors and client personnel;
• Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areasaround production machinery with extreme noise levels;
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes;
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.
