Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in Colorado seeks a structures, mechanisms and sub-systems lead to coordinate mechanical design across development, fabrication, testing, and delivery. You will drive 3D CAD work, ensure requirements are flowed into design, and lead cross-functional teams including ATLO and manufacturing.

The role requires strong communication skills, a background in mechanical engineering, and the ability to obtain a Top Secret/Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Strong design and drafting fundamentals with GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks, I-DEAS) and MBPD.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of mechanical design solutions using 3D CAD and large assemblies.
• Review requirements from stress, dynamics, systems, and thermal analyses.

In this role, you will work as an structures, mechanisms and sub-systems lead, collaborating closely with various adjacent engineering functions. These functions encompass the full spectrum of hardware development, including development, design, fabrication, testing, integration, and delivery, and you will play a key role in ensuring seamless interaction and coordination among these teams.

Job Responsibilities Include

• Lead development of mechanical design solutions of varying complexity using solid models, working with large assemblies, detailed drawings, and release of engineering work products.
• Review requirements from various sources (stress, dynamics, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of assigned products.
• Lead peers, ATLO, payload teams, configuration management, and manufacturing to ensure program requirements and schedules are met.
• Responsible for the completion of Program achievements by the release of accurate, error-free, affordable and producible engineering designs.
• The ideal candidate will have knowledge of 3D CAD Modeling in PTC CREO, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), have good communications skills (both oral and written) and a background in Mechanical Engineering processes. Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance is required.

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors or higher degree from an accredited college in a related discipline or combination of experience/education.
• Mechanical design expertise that includes the interpretation of engineering design drawings.
• Knowledge with engineering CAD tools (Creo, Solid Works, I-DEAS, etc.) and model based product definition.
• Deep knowledge base of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis.
• Candidate must have good oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
• U.S Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Desired Skills

• Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently.
• Experience with application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with Engineering Data Product release process within the Engineering Product Data Management (EPDM) system.
• Knowledge of LM Space command media.
• Working knowledge of industry standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, and AWS standards applicable to mechanical systems.
• Active Top Secret security clearance
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
