Job Description

Non-tenured, specified term scientific position responsible for managing a department research laboratory. Plans, directs, and conducts research, supporting various research activities. Supervises and trains laboratory staff, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

1. Designs, develops, and implements laboratory operational policies and procedures.
2. Develops strategic goals for the lab, plans and directs new projects, and seeks potential sponsored funding.
3. Conducts independent research, collaborates with other researchers, and oversees lab safety and protocols.
4. Prepares research manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
5. Performs literature reviews to stay current in the field.
6. Analyzes data, interprets results, and documents findings.
7. Presents research findings at meetings and to stakeholders.
8. Supervises laboratory personnel, including recruiting, training, and evaluating staff.
9. May have teaching responsibilities.
10. Performs other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education: Ph.D. or M.D. with 36 months Postdoctoral Research Fellow experience and 24 months as a professional Scientist.

Skills: Expertise in scientific field, data analysis, communication skills, computer proficiency, attention to detail, stress management, and deadline orientation.

Additional Information

Physical and environmental working conditions involve laboratory environment, exposure to biohazards, chemicals, and physical activity.

Supervision of 2 Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs).
