Job Description Summary

Responsible for expanding and optimizing overall data architecture and data engineering solutions. Will support data analysts, solution architects, data scientists, and product managers to deliver data analytical and reporting solutions. Accountable for managing multiple data domains and delivering comprehensive data solutions, including establishing data pipelines, data flows, standardizing data models, and setting up complex data transformation rules. Responsible for managing solutions released to production through the stabilization period.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Handle multiple projects across various data domains within the Cost as a Technology team.
2. Provide thought leadership on data architecture, design, data modeling principles, and Big Data strategy in the product cost data space.
3. Develop and maintain an integrated data architecture spanning relational and non-relational data landscapes.
4. Manage ETL frameworks, ensuring quality and timeliness of data ingestion and transformation jobs.
5. Drive reusability and ensure extensibility of overall data architecture.
6. Manage technical data dictionaries and support business glossaries.
7. Lead data profiling and analysis for source systems, manually maintained data, machine or sensor-generated data, and target data repositories.
8. Design and validate logical and physical data models for OLTP and OLAP solutions.
9. Standardize automated ETL jobs based on data mapping specifications.
10. Define metadata structures for building reusable ETL components.
11. Design common data structures for reference datasets and MDM datasets.
12. Streamline data feeds to downstream systems and recommend alternatives to minimize impact.
13. Lead efforts to build Data Quality rules.

Education Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree with minimum 5 years of professional experience, or Associates degree with minimum 8 years, or High School Diploma with minimum 10 years.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering.
• Military experience is considered equivalent to professional experience.

Eligibility Requirements

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. No visa sponsorship available.

Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise

• Experience with MPP databases, in-memory data processing engines, Big Data tools, and cloud platforms like CloudFoundry.
• Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., ERWin, ER Studio).
• Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica or Talend.
• Knowledge of data catalog, discovery, and lineage tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra).
• Programming skills in Java, Python, or Scala.
• SQL scripting experience with Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or HiveQL.
• Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Spark, Hive, NoSQL databases (Cassandra, HBase).
• Ability to handle unstructured data formats like XML and JSON.
• Ability to conduct exploratory, descriptive, and predictive data analysis and visualize data insights.

Domain Expertise

• Experience with machine or sensor datasets from industrial settings.
• Knowledge of industrial, financial, or manufacturing data domains.
• Exposure to finance and accounting data.

Leadership Skills

• Strong influencing and communication skills with leadership.
• Ability to lead in a matrix organization and work independently across multiple time zones.
