Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and diligent Senior Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger management, account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role is critical in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial data and will involve close collaboration with teams worldwide.

Responsibilities

1. Comfortable with all aspects of accounting operations, such as revenue recognition, bill payments, and amortization schedules.
2. Assist in the preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analyses, and the month-end close process.
3. Manages general ledger accounts and ensures timely and accurate posting of transactions.
4. Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting department.
5. Plays a key role in the development and implementation of new systems and internal controls that meet the Company’s evolving business model and culture.
6. Works cross-functionally to serve as a resource for internal stakeholders.
7. Supports audits by preparing necessary documentation and working with external auditors.
8. Assists in tax preparation and compliance, including sales tax and VAT filings.

Skills & Qualifications

1. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting or a related field
2. 3-5 years of total accounting experience, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
3. 1-2 years of public accounting experience
4. CPA or actively pursuing certification is a plus.
5. Hands-on approach, very detail oriented
6. Advanced knowledge of Excel
7. Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment where independence is the norm
8. Strong multi-tasking skills, and the flexibility to switch from one project to the next quickly
9. Excellent oral and written communication skills

Work Environment

1. Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, M-F. Due to the nature of this role, there may be an expectation to work late evenings and early mornings to meet client deliverables and requests.
2. Travel Requirements: No travel is required for this role.
3. Physical Requirements: This role involves standard office-based activities, including extended periods of sitting, standing, and working at a computer.
4. Work Model: For applicants who reside in or around New York, there will be a requirement to go into our NYC office, 2 to 3 days per week. For others located in different areas around the US, this position will be remote.

Salary Disclosure: Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The base pay for this position ranges from $110k-125k, plus incentive compensation (for eligible roles only), 401K with company match, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long-term disability, and a flexible time off policy.
