Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing SQL databases, including Microsoft Azure SQL Databases, while ensuring optimal database performance, security, and availability. This role requires a strong understanding of database management systems, best practices, and effective troubleshooting techniques. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining data integrity, security, availability, and performance across our systems to support business-critical operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for administration of all enterprise-wide application databases and data file structures. This includes but is not limited to controlling disk space and device allocation, validation checks, database design/changes, developing logical and physical data models in complex, multi-application environments including enterprise or corporate level as well as project level models for end user reporting.
  2. Responsible for performance of existing databases and ensuring databases are available per published up times
  3. Proactively monitor the global database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime
  4. Ensure that the applicable hardware resources are allocated to the databases to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
  5. Provide database expertise for the design and implementation of SAN infrastructure as it relates to global databases.
  6. Responsible for providing trend analysis to the infrastructure management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
  7. Lead the design and implementation of new databases and/or the improvement of existing databases.
  8. Responsible for problem escalation to Application Development team and third parties as appropriate.
  9. Setup and maintain security procedures that ensure appropriate authorized access by users to databases and the information therein.
  10. Responsible for incoming ServiceDesk tickets to Database group.
  11. Provide assistance and support to the local Help Desks in identifying root cause issues, corrective action and closing tickets.
  12. Provide technical expertise to all I.T. groups as needed.
  13. Assist in the maintenance of I.T. systems' documentation for all production applications in accordance with ISO/FDA/SOX standards.
  14. Assist in the development, maintenance and implementation of a Disaster Recovery Plan for all global applications
  15. Provide database support on-site or by phone as required for all shifts
  16. Interface as a technical contact with Microsoft support as it relates to solving Microsoft service requests
  17. Maintain awareness of technological developments in computer hardware and software systems
  18. Provide timely and concise summaries of project status to manager

Project Execution
  1. Communicates and applies project standards.
  2. Consistently delivers high-quality services to the user community.
  3. Plan and lead testing, implementation, training, support and documentation activities for Database-related projects
  4. Assist other DBA's, both internal and external as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 5 years of Experience with cloud-based SQL Server environments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.).
  • Experience with SQL Server AlwaysOn and Microsoft Failover Cluster
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
  • Experience managing multiple RDBMS on large systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for database automation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is helpful

    4. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Work Environment:
  • Normal office environment.
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing environments for the purpose of managing or training in software applications.

Experience:
  • 10+ years' experience in Database Administration of SQL Server databases.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related experience.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $113,441.00 and $151,255.00 per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
