Job Summary

We are seeking a Sr. Specialist, Trade Compliance for a 12-month contract opportunity based in Waltham, MA. This role is ideal for an experienced import/export compliance professional who enjoys working across supply chain, logistics, customs, and regulatory functions to support accurate, compliant global trade activity. The role is primarily remote, with occasional onsite presence required in Waltham, MA as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Support import and export compliance activities, including product classification under the USHTS, country of origin analysis, and database maintenance.


• Coordinate import declarations and customs approvals with customs brokers, including documentation related to Section 301, FDA, TSCA, and anti-dumping/countervailing duty applicability.


• Monitor import and export transactions, troubleshoot EEI filings, identify compliance concerns, and ensure accurate recordkeeping in accordance with regulations and internal policies.


• Assist with special trade programs and cost-saving initiatives, including free trade agreements, duty drawback, qualification activities, savings tracking, and compliance metrics.


• Support the maintenance and improvement of trade compliance work instructions, processes, procedures, and internal controls.


• Help identify training needs, develop compliance awareness, and support strategic projects to improve efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay Rate: $46.50 to $53.00 per hour.


• Job Type: Contract/Temporary.


• Duration: 12 months.


• Work Arrangement: Primarily remote, with onsite reporting to the Waltham, MA office as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Manage import/export compliance activities, including classification, documentation, broker coordination, and transaction monitoring.


• Support EEI filing, customs clearance processes, import declarations, and regulatory recordkeeping.


• Maintain and improve trade compliance procedures, work instructions, training materials, and process controls.


• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to resolve compliance questions and support business operations.


• Bachelor’s degree required, or relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.


• 2 to 3 years of experience with import/export regulations.


• 1 to 2 additional years of experience in supply chain, order management, operations, or logistics.


• Experience with import processes and customs broker liaison responsibilities.


• Experience with Electronic Export Information, EEI, filing.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.


• Familiarity with CBP’s Automated Commercial Environment, ACE.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills.


• Highly organized and self-managed, with the ability to work independently and support others in a fast-paced environment.


• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.


• Ability to analyze complex situations, identify process gaps, and make logical, data-driven decisions.


• Ability to operationalize new policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• U.S. Customs Broker License strongly preferred.


• Experience with HTS classification, ECCN classification, country of origin analysis, and valuation.


• Familiarity with restricted party screening, RPS.


• Knowledge of U.S. trade regulations, including BIS, OFAC, DDTC, and U.S. Census requirements.


• Experience supporting special trade programs such as free trade agreements or duty drawback.


• Experience developing or delivering import/export compliance training.
