The Intersect Group is recruiting a Sr Specialist/Manager of Regulatory Compliance in the United States for a direct hire role. You will serve as the SME for product compliance, regulatory oversight, safety certifications, chemical regulations, and sustainability reporting.

You will identify regulatory risks, establish compliance frameworks, and ensure products meet evolving federal, state, retailer, and industry requirements across a high-visibility, cross-functional setting.

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of experience in Regulatory Compliance or related fields.
  • Degree in chemistry, engineering, environmental science or regulatory affairs.
  • Experience with UL certifications and third party programs.
  • Knowledge of California regulations including Prop 65 and related testing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end product compliance and regulatory oversight for a diverse portfolio.
  • Serve as primary authority on product safety certifications and chemical compliance.
  • Manage testing, certifications, and approvals with third-party labs and orgs.
  • Oversee regulatory submissions, reporting, and compliance docs across jurisdictions.
  • Drive chemical disclosure, packaging recyclability, and environmental regs.
  • Develop SDS, regulatory databases, and compliance dashboards.
  • Review product claims and labeling for regulatory accuracy and risk.
  • Create governance processes and regulatory checkpoints across lifecycle.

Role Summary

Sr Specialist/Manager of Regulatory Compliance will serve as the organization's subject matter expert for product compliance, regulatory oversight, product safety certifications, chemical regulations, and sustainability reporting. This individual will play a critical role in identifying regulatory risks, establishing compliance frameworks, and ensuring products meet evolving federal, state, retailer, and industry requirements.

This is a highly visible position with significant cross functional interaction across Legal, R&D, Procurement, Packaging, Marketing, Sales, and Operations. As a newly established function, this role offers the opportunity to build processes from the ground up, implement scalable solutions, and create a long term compliance strategy that supports business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end to end product compliance and regulatory oversight across a diverse product portfolio
  • Serve as the primary authority on product safety certifications, chemical compliance, retailer requirements, and sustainability initiatives
  • Manage product testing, certifications, and approvals through third party laboratories and industry organizations
  • Oversee regulatory submissions, reporting requirements, and compliance documentation across multiple jurisdictions
  • Drive compliance with chemical disclosure, hazardous materials, packaging, recyclability, and environmental regulations
  • Develop and maintain Safety Data Sheets, regulatory databases, certification records, and compliance dashboards
  • Review product, packaging, and marketing claims to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation
  • Build standardized workflows, governance processes, reporting calendars, and regulatory checkpoints throughout the product lifecycle
Key Requirements
  • 5 to 10+ years of experience in Regulatory Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Product Stewardship, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, Legal Studies, or a related discipline
  • Direct experience with UL certification processes, CTL testing, product safety standards, and third party compliance programs
  • Experience managing California regulatory compliance requirements, including regulations related to flammable consumer products
  • Hands on experience with CARB, South Coast AQMD, California Proposition 65, WERCS registrations, and SDS management
  • Experience leading Extended Producer Responsibility reporting initiatives and packaging sustainability compliance programs
  • Strong knowledge of consumer products regulations, chemical compliance requirements, retailer compliance standards, and packaging regulations
  • Proven ability to identify compliance risks, implement corrective actions, and manage complex regulatory programs independently
  • Experience reviewing product claims, marketing materials, and labeling for regulatory compliance
  • Ability to operate successfully in an entrepreneurial environment with limited structure and high levels of ownership
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and cross functional collaboration skills
  • Confident self starter who can work independently, navigate ambiguity, and drive results with minimal oversight
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting multi brand or multi entity organizations
  • Exposure to consumer products, manufacturing, retail, or related industries
  • Experience building compliance programs, reporting systems, and governance structures from the ground up
  • Knowledge of packaging sustainability reporting and evolving environmental regulations
  • Experience partnering with Legal, R&D, Marketing, Procurement, and Operations teams
