Job summary

Infotech is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to deliver scalable cloud solutions, perform installations, upgrades, configurations, and data migrations for AASHTOWare products. You will build Windows-based cloud environments on AWS and bridge customer software with SaaS services.

Ideal candidates will have expertise in Windows Server, SQL Server/Oracle, AWS, and scripting in Python/PowerShell/Bash, with a capacity to train customers and document solutions.

• 3+ years of hands-on engineering or technical support experience.

Who we are looking for

As a member of the Hosting and Technical Services team, you will provide hands-on technical assistance with software implementations, including installations, upgrades, configurations, and data migrations, for customers and for our development, testing, and support environments. You will also build and maintain Windows-based cloud environments on Amazon Web Services, bridging the gap between customer-installed software and software as a service. With a broad range of technical skills, you will recommend and deliver solutions for a wide variety of customer and internal needs, develop custom reports and interfaces, and share your expertise through customer training.

What will you do in this role?

• Perform and assist with installations, upgrades, application configurations, and data migrations for AASHTOWare products and services.
• You’ll be largely self-driven, managing multiple concurrent tasks prioritized by importance and deadline. We are currently working on two large-scale migration paths (on-premises to AWS and EC2 to containers), and you’ll be involved in both.
• Deploy AASHTOWare products with Infotech services on Amazon Web Services and maintain those environments for cost efficiency, availability, reliability, and performance.
• Respond to alerts and resolve issues quickly, including occasional after-hours maintenance and on-call troubleshooting.
• Help ensure a high level of privacy and security across all services and accounts, adhering to NIST 800-53 and GovRAMP controls as applicable.
• Provide technical assistance to other Infotech departments, including Development, Support, and QA.
• Deliver engaging technical training on AASHTOWare products to new and existing customers.
• Create technical documentation for internal and external audiences.
• Contribute to innovation by identifying new opportunities and sharing ideas that improve our processes, services, and products.

You must have

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and 3+ years of relevant experience requiring technical troubleshooting and problem solving, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

We would like you to have

• Strong Windows Server administration experience (IIS and Active Directory management - PowerShell skills especially valuable).
• Experience with infrastructure as code and CI/CD.
• Basic database administration knowledge is especially valuable. In-depth SQL experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server to query complex data, including familiarity with views, synonyms, triggers, stored procedures, and database links.
• Experience working with cloud environments and configuration automation, particularly AWS.
• Experience providing technical training.
