Job summary

Moog Inc. in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Test Equipment, to design and develop hydraulic, electro‑hydraulic, electro‑mechanical, servo‑mechanism, and electro‑pneumatic test equipment used to test Moog products on military, commercial, and space vehicles.

Location: Buffalo, NY. This onsite role participates in Moog’s Space & Defense Group, collaborates with program teams, mentors junior engineers, and leads design processes to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, LabVIEW Real-Time, and LabVIEW FPGA development tools.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments hardware, real-time controllers, and FPGA cards.
  • Experience with bug tracking tools and version control systems (e.g., Jira, Trac, SVN).
  • Experience with Python or other automation scripting languages.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and self-motivation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Certified LabVIEW Developer.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new test equipment, assemblies, and processes to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals.
  • Verify functional performance of products used on military, commercial, and space vehicles.
  • Evaluate, select, adapt, and modify standard and nonstandard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Devise new approaches for encountered problems and coordinate the work of others.
  • Collaborate with internal program teams to provide design of specialized test equipment, systems architecture, interface definition, and requirements validation.
  • Lead the design process and provide technical leadership within Moog’s program scope.
  • Maintain test systems, perform documentation and maintenance activities.
  • Analyze, debug, and resolve issues in collaboration with development and production teams.
  • Use laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzers, digital meters, and power supplies.
  • Mentor junior engineers when appropriate.

Job Overview

  • Experience with quantitative software such as MATLAB, Minitab, R/S‑Plus.
  • Experience with containerization, test automation, firmware VHDL coding, and debugging.
