Sr. Systems Engineer at Moog Inc. in the Space & Defense Group will design and develop hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, electro-mechanical, servo and electro-pneumatic test systems for Moog products.

This role is based in East Aurora, NY or Arvada, CO with onsite work. Responsibilities include leading design efforts, defining system-level requirements, validating interfaces, and coordinating test equipment assembly. Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and strong communication are essential; U.S.

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Experience leading other engineers preferred.
  • Ability to obtain US security clearance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program teams to design specialized test equipment and interfaces.
  • Provide technical leadership within Moog’s program scope.
  • Develop system-level requirements and verify test equipment.
  • Design test equipment to support development and production hardware.
  • Use MATLAB/Simulink to model and predict system performance.
  • Coordinate assembly and perform verification testing.
  • Mentor junior engineers as appropriate.

Role Overview

As a Sr. Systems Engineer in our Space & Defense Group in East Aurora, NY or Arvada, CO you will be responsible for design and development of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, electro-mechanical, servo-mechanism, and electro-pneumatic components and systems that will be used to test the products of Moog, Inc. This position is responsible for design and development of new test equipment, assemblies, and/or processes to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals.

You will contribute to the design of test equipment to verify functional performance of products used on military, commercial, and space vehicles. You will plan and conduct efforts requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard and nonstandard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. You will independently devise new approaches for problems encountered, and plan and coordinate the work of others.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the internal program teams to provide the design of specialized test equipment, systems architecture and interface definition, and requirements validation.
  • Lead the design process and provide technical leadership within Moog’s program scope.
  • Develop system level requirements, support the decomposition of requirements to component levels, and lead the verification of the test equipment.
  • Design linear/rotary test equipment systems in support of development and production hardware.
  • Work with MATLAB/Simulink to construct, understand, and exercise system models in order to predict system performance and manage system margins.
  • Perform hardware correlation, system integration and verification testing.
  • Coordinate and support the assembly of test equipment.
  • Mentor younger engineers where and when appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant technical experience
  • Experience with coaching, guiding, training, or providing technical leadership to other engineers is preferred
  • Self-motivation, critical thinking, and strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated strong technical written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • DOORS and Cameo experience is a plus!

Salary Range

Buffalo, NY $120,000.00–$150,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
