Job summary

Super Micro Computer in San Jose, California, is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to provide software-level support, automation, deployment, and on-site validation for strategic customers.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth server and data center deployments, drive root cause analysis for software and system issues, and deliver high-quality technical solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering, systems deployment, automation, or technical support, preferably with data center/server experience.
  • Proven data center operations, server deployment, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
  • Solid understanding of networking, server hardware, virtualization, and Linux/Windows OS.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel for on-site customer support.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system-level software validation, deployment, and testing for strategic customers, including scripting for server environments.
  • Provide technical support for strategic customer issues through root cause analysis and timely communication.
  • Support on-site deployment and validation activities at customer data centers with travel as needed.
  • Lead or participate in failure analysis and prepare 8D reports with root causes and corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain test plans, deployment procedures, automation scripts, evaluation reports, and dashboards.
  • Participate in customer and internal issue review meetings with technical updates.
  • Support global team collaboration for continuous coverage across time zones.
  • Enforce software and system quality standards and identify deployment improvements.

Job Summary

Supermicro is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing software‑level support, automation, deployment, and technical troubleshooting for strategic customers, including on‑site support when required.

You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth server and data center deployments, drive root cause analysis for software and system issues, and deliver high‑quality technical solutions.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform system‑level software validation, deployment, and testing for strategic customers, including functional, stress, regression, and automation scripting for server environments.
  • Provide technical support for strategic customer issues by performing root cause analysis, driving resolution, and ensuring clear internal coordination and timely communication.
  • Support on‑site deployment and validation activities at customer data centers, requiring travel to customer sites as needed.
  • Lead or participate in failure analysis for critical issues and prepare 8D reports, clearly documenting root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test plans, deployment procedures, automation scripts, evaluation reports, and customer status dashboards.
  • Participate in customer and internal issue review meetings, providing technical updates and recommendations.
  • Support global team collaboration to maintain continuous coverage and timely response for high‑priority projects across time zones.
  • Enforce software and system quality standards while identifying opportunities to improve deployment processes, automation, and support efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering, systems deployment, automation, or technical support, preferably with data center or server industry experience.
  • Proven experience in data center operations, server deployment, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
  • Solid understanding of networking, server hardware, virtualization, and operating systems (Linux/Windows).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or on‑call support.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for on‑site customer support when required.
  • Experience with on‑site deployment support or customer data center environments is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of validation methodologies, test planning, and defect tracking processes.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
Salary Range

$160,000 - $200,000. The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
