We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Digital Insights Data Engineering team. As part of a collaborative engineering unit, you'll contribute to the architecture, development, and maintenance of our content delivery platform for moodys.com. Your role involves supporting multiple engineering teams, leading technology transformation, and advancing our journey towards scalable Cloud-native solutions. This position covers analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation within data engineering, focusing on delivering tasks on time, escalating issues when necessary, and mentoring others through code reviews, workshops, and documentation. The Work:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Snowflake, Apache Airflow, dbt (SQL), and Python with AWS services.
• Support and improve the data platform through tuning, upgrades, and process controls.
• Provide guidance and operational support for deploying database scripts across environments.
• Collaborate with technical teams and business owners during design and implementation.
• Manage individual time and tasks effectively.
• Work with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement solutions.

The Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent; master's preferred or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience leading in a data engineering or software development team.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing data pipelines from various sources and formats.
• Knowledge of Airflow DAG management, scheduling, monitoring, data quality checks, error handling, and retries.
• Experience with Airflow custom operators, sensors, plugins, and executors.
• Experience in Agile development and stakeholder communication.
• Strong development, testing, debugging, and documentation skills.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong database skills with Postgres SQL, DynamoDB, Snowflake.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with AWS database technologies like RDS and DynamoDB.
• Understanding of data quality and governance principles.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming and architectural patterns.
• Experience with Git, Jira, Rally, Jenkins, Cypress, Postman.
• Experience with AWS cloud services like ECS, Lambda, Aurora, API Gateway, VPC, Neptune.
• Familiarity with big data tools such as Spark, Kafka, Kinesis, Redshift.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark, SQL, cloud storage like S3 or ADLS.
• Development skills in Java (Spring Boot), Scala, PySpark.
