Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Software Engineer for HIL/ SIL simulations focused on battery and high voltage architecture. You will create, integrate and maintain real-time models for plant, sensors, actuators, and controllers, powering BECM and diagnostics testing.

You will coordinate model updates, hardware upgrades and test environments to support new features and SDV2 changes, ensuring benches meet timing and enable early defect detection before vehicle integration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
  • 3+ years of experience in real-time simulation, HIL/SIL testing, and model integration.
  • Experience with HIL bench tools and simulating sensors/actuators (voltage, current, temperature).

Job description

Duties
  • Lead the creation, integration, and maintenance of simulation models, including plant models, sensor/actuator models, serial data networks, and controller representations.
  • Develop and maintain Battery HIL models and benches supporting BECM, cell balancing, contactor logic, diagnostics, thermal systems, and high voltage architecture behavior.
  • Plan and coordinate model updates, hardware upgrades, and test environment rollout to support new features, new programs, and SDV2 architecture changes.
  • Ensure benches meet program timing, support feature development, and enable early detection of defects before vehicle integration.
  • Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field of study and Three (3) years of experience as a Software Engineer, SIL Software in the Loop Engineer, HIL Simulation & Integration Engineer, High Voltage Simulation Engineer, or related occupation.
  • Three (3) years of experience with: Complex design of models with real time simulation; and HIL bench tools, including ETAS INCA, Lauterbach, CAN (CANalyzer or Vehicle Spy), and Python.
  • Two (2) years of experience with: HIL design and integration; Modeling and testing electrical, short circuit, and fault scenarios; and Creating in model, the simulated sensors and actuators (voltage, current, temperature) and synchronizing the physical hardware with simulated plant models.
