Job Description

Conducts high-level systems analysis and implements high-performing, efficient, and cost-effective software solutions supporting Wellmark’s business and technology applications. Leads system development, guides the team in design, development, testing, and debugging, and promotes best practices like automated testing and CI/CD pipelines. Manages diverse development resources, builds relationships with leaders, and acts as a consultant on process improvements and technology enhancements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field, with at least 2 years of software development experience (Angular, NodeJS, TypeScript, C++, .NET, Java, SQL) OR 6 years of applicable experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to develop creative technical solutions.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Ability to translate company strategy into design and development decisions.
  • Proven ability to gather information, perform root cause analysis, and use data to support recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and mentorship skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and to work collaboratively within diverse teams.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with Agile teams.
  • Interest in mentoring and coaching.
  • Partnering with global staffing vendors.
  • Diverse development background including .NET and MEAN stack.
Additional Information

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-level analysis and implementation of innovative, cost-effective solutions.
  • Guiding engineers in design, development, testing, and debugging.
  • Supporting root cause analysis and ongoing optimization.
  • Mentoring team members on software solutions and best practices.
  • Using data and cost measures to influence decisions and build consensus.
  • Building relationships with leaders and acting as a technology consultant.
  • Participating in project proposals, estimates, and proof-of-concept activities.
  • Staying current with industry standards and best practices.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
