Job description

Peraton has an opportunity for an experienced Sr. Software Developer. The position is a remote opportunity.

This program supports a customer that develops, enhances, and expands defense system capabilities using the scaled agile large solution framework (SAFe) processes. The program itself will vet personnel for security access, suitability, and credentialing. It will preserve clearance, suitability, fitness, and credentialing adjudication decisions, and continuously evaluate cleared federal agencies to enable shared information for identifying and mitigating insider threat risks.

What you'll do:

• Develop technical solutions to complex problems.
• Support the development and/or sustainment of a software development environment covering the entire Software Development Lifecycle using methodologies such as Continuous Deployment, Agile, and DevOps.
• Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software.
• Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with cross-functional teams in planning, designing, developing, and utilizing Cloud-based capabilities for deploying COTS software.
• Analyze user needs and software requirements to assess feasibility within time and cost constraints.
• Consult with systems analysts, engineers, and teams to design software, considering project limitations, performance requirements, and interfaces.
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict outcomes.
• Coordinate software testing and deployment to meet specifications.
• Assist Scrum Master and team with technical expertise in executing contract deliverables.
• Support the Chief Enterprise Architect, Release Train Engineer, senior leadership, and clients with software development best practices.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control to ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Collaborate with government Product Owners, teams, and vendors for rapid software integration and interoperability.
• Ensure quality and high customer satisfaction across all services and deliverables.

What you'll need:

• Experience with AWS services (Microservices, Lambda, SQS/SNS, S3, CloudWatch, DynamoDB), Git, CI/CD tools.
• Experience modernizing IT systems and transforming to the cloud.
• Experience with CI/CD automation and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience manipulating XML payloads to conform to XSD schemas.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence, developing user stories based on client requirements.
• Knowledge of Relational & NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies, Kanban, and Waterfall.
• Full stack development experience using Java.

Clearance required: Active Secret clearance

Certification needed: Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II (can be obtained after starting).
