Job summary

American Honda Motor Company, Inc. seeks a skilled engineer to lead the development of infotainment hardware and software, advancing CA-S E and quality goals across vehicle platforms.

You will work with suppliers to mature components, specify requirements, and document development activities while aligning with market trends and customer demands. This onsite role allows one remote day per week with approval.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering / Mechatronics / Automotive Engineering or similar STEM field.
• At least 3 years of demonstrable relevant experience in the industry after academics.
• Good understanding of vehicle communication protocols CAN, LIN, Ethernet.
• Desirable: Familiarity with Jira.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware and software testing to enhance infotainment platform performance, focusing on safety, comfort, and user experience.
• Direct selected suppliers to meet maturation schedules for components.
• Write clear technical reports, presentations, and documents of development activities.
• Capture and specify critical functional hardware, software, and communication requirements for infotainment components.
• Analyze test results, predict performance, and provide design data.
• Communicate development schedule and status to multiple company departments.
• Research infotainment system architecture trends and assess market demands.
• Propose and justify new functions across hardware, software, and HMI to meet market needs.

Job Purpose

• This position will lead the development of hardware and software technologies into our vehicles to enhance comfort, safety, and user experience towards creating a top-class infotainment platform with a focus on C.A.S.E. (Connected Autonomous Shared Electrification) and Quality.

Key Accountabilities

• Electrical Hardware and Software Testing:
• Perform actual hands-on performance testing that may include developing unique requirements on system components and vehicle testing to guarantee product acceptance. Support maturation testing to cover different configurations of components to ensure all variations work correctly.
• Supplier Management:
• Direct the Honda selected suppliers to design and manage the component to maturation schedule requirements.
• Documentation:
• Write clear and concise reports, presentations and/or technical documents to make a record of the development activities, communicating directly with Technical Experts.
• Requirements Capture and Specification Development:
• Recognize and specify critical functional (hardware, software & communication) requirements for infotainment system components to match customer demands.
• Develop, write and issue specification requirements for system components.

• Analysis:
• Analyze & interpret test results, predict performance/failure and provide required product/design data.
• Project Management:
• Effectively communicate the development schedule and report status of component functions to different company areas/departments.
• Strategic Planning:
• Research and influence the future path and trends of infotainment system architecture, features/functions, and efficient development methods.
• Assess the marketplace demands with a competitive viewpoint of infotainment system component requirements.
• Improvement & Innovation:
• Propose, develop, and justify any new functions (hardware, electrical, software, HMI, etc.) to meet the market requirements

Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

• Minimum Educational Qualifications:
• Must have a college level Bachelors degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering / Mechatronics / Automotive Engineering or a similar STEM field of study.
• Minimum work experience:
• At least 3 years of demonstrable relevant experience in the industry after completion of academics.
• Must have good understanding of vehicle communication protcols, e.g. - CAN (Controlled Area Network), LIN, Ethernet.
• Python scripting to create test automation tools.
• Desirable: Familiarity with project management tools / processes, e.g. - Jira

Workstyle

• This is an onsite job. One remote workday per week may be possible with prior departmental approval.
