Job description

Description

The Sleep Technologist is responsible for performing and evaluating routine and specialized overnight polysomnograms (PSGs), Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLTs), Home Sleep Apnea Tests, and ensuring patient safety. Key duties include calibrating equipment, attaching sensors, performing bio-calibration, monitoring lab equipment, and observing patients during sleep. The technologist must make decisions to initiate Bi/CPAP titration or other treatments if lab criteria are met. They will also score polysomnographic recordings upon request.

This position may require occasional daytime work to perform MSLTs, infant and pediatric recordings, scoring, and other functions as directed by the lab manager.

Salary Range

$32.66 - $43.12 per hour

Qualifications

1. CPR/BLS certification is required.
2. License from the Medical Board of California as a Polysomnographic Technologist or a Respiratory Care Practitioner License from the CA Respiratory Care Board.
3. One of the following certifications is required:
   1. Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT)
   2. National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
   3. Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)
   4. Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT)
   5. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - SDS
   6. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - SDS
   7. Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)
4. Experience in Polysomnography and sleep recording instrumentation and scoring techniques.
5. Basic computer skills.
6. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and/or days, as scheduled.
7. Experience working with clinical research populations is preferred.
