Overview
The Sr. Site Materials Buyer/Planner will lead and support management to ensure that Raw Materials (RM) and Packaging Materials (PM) are available to support manufacturing activities. This position collaborates with internal teams, including Production Planning, Sourcing, R&D, Change Management, Manufacturing, Finance, Transportation, and Quality, as well as external suppliers. The role involves using Agile database/document management and Oracle ERP systems to procure approved direct materials and manage inventories.
Responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing cycle, including purchase orders, blanket agreements, and order follow-up.
- Handle challenging material categories requiring critical thinking.
- Maintain supplier and item databases supporting procurement.
- Ensure Sox Compliance and validate spend authority and approvals.
- Maintain inventory levels to ensure continuous supply.
- Analyze Oracle MRP reports to support replenishment based on production schedules.
- Lead inventory planning, considering lead times, logistics, and obsolescence, and recommend strategy adjustments.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve material issues.
- Support on-time product launches and address purchasing queries.
- Monitor supply issues and collaborate on solutions to prevent delays.
- Evaluate supplier performance and foster relationships.
- Use reporting tools to analyze procurement processes and suggest improvements.
- Contribute to cost reviews and analyze purchase price variances.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and database management systems.
- 4+ years in sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain management.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, supply chain, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Agile, Oracle ERP, TQM, ISO9000, Lean Six Sigma, and data analytics.
- Experience with food or nutritional products is a plus.
Physical Demands
- Ability to see, hear, speak, and write clearly.
- Light office work, some lifting, and walking.
