Job summary

Terex is seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer to lead development and deployment of advanced robotics in manufacturing environments. You will design, program, and integrate robotic systems to improve efficiency, quality, and safety, collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers.

You will develop control algorithms, path planning, and machine vision capabilities, and lead system integration projects with PLCs and HMIs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical Eng, CS or related field.
  • 7+ years of robotics engineering, industrial automation, or related field.
  • Proficiency in robot programming (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, etc.).
  • Experience with robotic simulation tools (RoboDK, MATLAB, ROS, Gazebo).
  • Knowledge of motion planning, kinematics, and control systems.
  • Experience with sensors (LiDAR, radar, depth cameras) and sensor fusion.
  • Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and automation.
  • CV and AI-based perception (OpenCV, TensorFlow).
  • Hands-on sensor integration, ML, and IoT.
  • 3+ years on sensor selection for robotic chassis; 4+ years in physics-based simulation (Isaac Sim).
  • Strong design judgment for manipulator tradeoffs and 7-DOF arms.
  • Strong problem solving and fast-paced work ability.
  • Git, unit testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate robotic systems for manufacturing and field use.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer to lead the development and deployment of advanced robotics and automation solutions for our manufacturing and equipment operations. This role involves designing, programming, and integrating robotic systems to improve efficiency, quality, and safety in industrial environments.

As a senior engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the strategic vision of robotics at Terex.

What you'll do
  • Design, develop, and integrate robotic systems into manufacturing and field applications, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
  • Develop control algorithms, path planning, and motion control for robotic arms, autonomous systems, and automation equipment.
  • Implement machine vision, AI, and sensor-based automation for real-time perception and decision-making.
  • Lead system integration projects, working with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, electrical, and mechanical engineers to optimize robotic workflows.
  • Perform simulation, testing, and validation of robotic systems before deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards (ANSI, ISO, OSHA) for industrial robotics applications.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies in robotics, AI, and industrial automation.
What you'll bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in robotics engineering, industrial automation, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in robot programming (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, or similar).
  • Experience with robotic simulation tools (RoboDK, MATLAB, ROS, Gazebo, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of motion planning, kinematics, and control systems.
  • Experience with LiDAR, radar, depth cameras, and sensor fusion techniques
  • Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.) and industrial automation.
  • Familiarity with computer vision and AI-based perception (OpenCV, TensorFlow, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with sensor integration, machine learning, and IoT.
  • 3+ years of experience on sensor selection and implementation across various robotic chassis form factors
  • 4+ years developing training models for physics based simulation in tools such as Isaac Sim
  • Deep understanding of design tradeoffs and uses between manipulator designs
  • Deep understanding of the design and function of a 7 DOF robotic arm
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding version control (Git), unit testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in heavy equipment or manufacturing automation.
  • Knowledge of mobile robotics, AMRs, and AGVs.
  • Background in welding, material handling, or assembly automation.
  • Experience with cloud-based industrial automation solutions.

Salary: The salary range for this position is $127,800.00 - $156,200.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
