SR Road Driver Manager

Job summary

Central Transport is a national LTL carrier expanding its terminal operations. We seek a Driver Manager to oversee safety, compliance and efficiency of our linehaul drivers within the terminal team.

You will oversee onboarding, certifications, hours of service, payroll, and driver engagement, travelling to terminals quarterly. The role requires strong communication and DOT knowledge, with a shift 3:00pm–1:00am, Monday–Friday and a salary up to $90,000 plus bonus.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transportation management or related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office and transportation management software.
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe work environment through effective communication, training and safety meetings.
• Review Hours of Service documentation and ensure compliance with safety guidelines and regulations.
• Assist Human Resources in driver recruitment, placement and retention.
• Plan linehaul shift execution and identify gaps between linehaul and dock operations.
• Welcome and onboard new drivers, manage training curriculums and ongoing training programs.
• Ensure drivers obtain hazmat endorsements, CDL licensing, and DOT physicals.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and ensure DVIR compliance.
• Manage PTO requests, scheduling accuracy and employee cancellations.
• Maintain equipment records and track governed units.
• Issue incident reports and aid in corrective actions.
• Assist with trailer registrations and placards prep.

• RoadDriverCertifications :Ensuredriversobtainandmaintainhazmatendorsements,CDLlicensing,andDOTphysicalrequirements.

• EmployeeConduct: IssueIncidentActionReports(IARs)asdirected,reviewIARrequests,andassistwithconductimprovementactions.
• EquipmentAdministration: Assistwithtrailerregistrations,placards,withafocusonpreparations.
• RideAlong: Conductmonthlyrideswithdriverstogatherfeedbackandunderstandtheirperspective.
• RoadDriverJobSelection: Assistwithjobselectionprocesscommunication,answerdriverinquiries,andmaintainunderstandingofcompanyprograms.
• RoadDriverEngagement: Hosteventstoboostmoraleandresolveemployeeconcerns.
• Travel: Visitassignedterminalsquarterlytooverseeoperationsandaddressanyissues.

QualificationsandSkillsRequired:

ReportingRelationships:

TheDriverManagerwillreportdirectlytotheTerminalManagerandcollaboratecloselywithvariousdepartmentsincludingOperations,Safety,HR,andLinehaul.

WorkingConditions:

Thisroleprimarilyoperatesinanfreightterminalenvironmentbutrequiresfrequenttraveltoterminalsforreviewofyardanddockoperations.Workhoursareprimarilyfrom1500to0100,MondaytoFriday,butcanvarybasedonjobdemands.
