Supermicro is seeking a senior leader in risk management and insurance to own and optimize our global insurance program. You will shape risk strategy, manage policies, and lead claims while coordinating with Legal, brokers, and carriers across multinational operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Insurance, or equivalent work experience.
  • 12+ years of progressive risk management and insurance experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in technology hardware manufacturing or distribution.
  • Deep understanding of insurance principles, coverage types, and claims processes.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement global insurance programs.
  • Experience working with insurers, quotations, and client claims handling.

What You'll Do
Risk Assessment & Mitigation
  • Proactively identify and assess a wide range of risks, including those specific to the technology industry, global supply chains, and emerging trends.
  • Develop and implement robust risk management frameworks and protocols to mitigate potential financial losses.
  • Work with stakeholders to establish and document processes related to cargo, theft, automobile policy, and others.
  • Partner with Logistics to assess shipment risks and establish internal procedures and qualification criteria for shipment insurance requests.
  • Evaluate shipping terms, insurance requirements, and risk ownership for domestic and international shipments.
Policy Management & Administration
  • Manage the procurement and renewal of all insurance policies, ensuring comprehensive coverage at competitive pricing.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of insurance policies, contracts, and claims.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies, including international regulations and data privacy standards.
  • Review cargo insurance coverage, quotations, policy terms, limits, deductibles, and exclusions to ensure appropriate protection for high-value shipments.
Claims Management & Resolution
  • Lead the claims management process, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of all claims.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel and third‑party administrators, to investigate and analyze claims.
  • Advocate for the organization’s interests in negotiations with insurance carriers.
  • Manage insurance matters arising from significant customer claims or litigation, including coordination with Legal, brokers, and carriers on applicable coverage, including D&O when appropriate.
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Analyze insurance costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management on insurance program performance, key risks, emerging issues, and claims experience.
Relationship Management
  • Cultivate strong relationships with brokers, carriers, legal counsel, and other key stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of market trends and regulatory changes.
Training & Development
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance risk awareness and understanding of insurance principles across the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support to business units on insurance-related matters.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Insurance, or equivalent work experience.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in risk management and insurance, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the technology industry or with companies that manufacture and distribute hardware.
  • Deep understanding of insurance principles, coverage types, and claims processes, including international insurance markets.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement comprehensive global insurance programs.
  • Experience working for or directly with insurance companies, with a strong understanding of how insurers evaluate coverage, develop quotations, and manage client claims.
  • Strong understanding of domestic and international shipping terms, including Incoterms, carrier responsibilities, and shipment risk transfer.
  • Hands‑on experience managing insurance policies and claims for large‑value shipments, including complex claim documentation, negotiation, and settlement.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to thrive and adapt in a fluid environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
  • Industry certifications such as ARM, CPCU, or CRM.
  • Experience in a complex, multinational organization.
  • Knowledge of risk management information systems (RMIS).
  • Experience with insurance programs for technology companies, including product liability, errors & omissions, and cyber insurance.
  • Fluency in one or more foreign languages.
Salary Range

$135,000 - $180,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
