Job Description

Visa is looking for a product-minded risk leader to support a portfolio that includes stablecoin and crypto initiatives, AI-enabled agentic commerce, Visa Pay, Visa Accept and other emerging payment capabilities.

You will work with product teams from earlyconceptthrough launch and ongoing monitoring. Your role is toidentifythe risks that matter, bring the right experts together, and help the business maketimely, well-informed decisions without adding unnecessary friction.

This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys learning new business models and technologies, asking thoughtful questions, and creatingstructurewhere the answer is not obvious. Deep experience in every product area is not expected. We valuedemonstratedexpertisein one or more relevant domains and the ability to learn quickly across the portfolio.

What you will do:
Partner with emerging product teams:
  • Build trusted relationships across Product, Technology, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, Cybersecurity, Data and AI Governance, ClientServicesand regional teams.
  • Engage early in product roadmaps, design choices, partnermodelsand market launches so material risks can be addressed before options narrow.
  • Translate complex product, technology, regulatory and ecosystem questions into clear decisions, actions and leadershipasks.
Lead product risk decisions:
  • Lead product risk reviews for new products, pilots, feature changes,partnershipsand market launches. A product risk review is Visa’s structured process foridentifyingmaterial risks andrequiredmitigations before a product orsignificant changemoves forward.
  • Determinethe right level of risk review, risk acceptance, controlassessmentand escalation for each initiative, based on materiality and product maturity.
  • Document material risks, mitigations, accountable owners, decisionpointsand post-launch monitoring expectations.
Strengthen operational and enterprise risk management:
  • Lead or support Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), including process scoping, risk identification, control design,issuesand remediation plans.
  • Assess whether controls are practical and fit for purpose by reviewing ownership, frequency, evidence,escalationand effectiveness.
  • Maintain a forward-lookingportfolioview of risks, control gaps, key risk indicators, risk acceptances, mitigationcommitmentsand emerging themes.
  • Keep enterprise risk records current and drivetimelyfollow-through on mitigation actions.
Apply judgment to new and evolving risks:
  • Evaluate emerging payments, digital assets, AI-enabledcommerceand related technologies by separating material exposure from theoretical concern.
  • Connect strategic and ecosystem implications with the detailed operating processes and controls needed for safe execution.
  • Reuse effective risk and control patterns across products while adapting the approach to the maturity,scaleand context of each initiative.

This role is a Hybrid position to be located in our San Francisco, CA office location. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
  • Experience evaluating complex business, product, technology or operational risks and translating findings into clear recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions and influence stakeholders atdifferent levels.
  • Experience creating or improving frameworks, governance, controls, operatingprocessesor decision mechanisms in an evolving environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a regulated,globalor highly cross-functional environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • Degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, Technology, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience in product, risk, payments, fintech, digital assets, technology, financial services,consultingora relatedfield.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: digital payments, stablecoins or crypto, blockchain, AI or agentic systems, fintech platforms, APIs, fraud, disputes,treasuryor regulated product launches.
  • Familiarity with product risk reviews, enterprise or operational risk management, Risk and Control Self-Assessments, control design, issuemanagementor risk acceptance..
Information for US Applicants

For roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $153,700.00 to $ 246,200.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
