Job summary

Onni Group of Companies seeks a Senior Property Accountant to own full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a multifamily portfolio. You will lead month-end close across a large portfolio, review work, perform reconciliations, and strengthen internal controls through standardized processes.

You will collaborate with property operations and managers on budgeting, variance analysis, and year-end support, with analytical precision and a focus on accuracy.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of property accounting experience (multifamily preferred).
• Hands-on Yardi Voyager experience and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Ability to manage multiple properties or entities while meeting reporting deadlines.
• CPA or CPA candidacy a plus (not required).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements per GAAP and company requirements.
• Lead month-end close across a large portfolio; review journal entries and reconciliations.
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Review rent rolls, receivables, deposits, and resident accounting activity for accuracy.
• Prepare monthly sales tax returns; set up new properties in Yardi.
• Collaborate with property managers to analyze results and explain variances.
• Prepare budget schedules and reforecasts; load budgets into Yardi and validate assumptions.
• Coordinate with external accountants for year-end reviews and audits.
• Guide Property Accountants on close tasks and best practices; drive process improvements.

Job description

Job Description: We’re looking for a detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to take ownership of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a multifamily portfolio. You’ll lead month-end close across a larger portfolio, deliver accurate and timely financial statements, and keep tight reconciliations across bank and balance sheet accounts. You’ll work closely with property operations teams on budgeting and variance analysis, review the work of Property Accountants, and play a key role in strengthening internal controls across our property accounting processes.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company reporting requirements
• Lead month-end A/R and GL close across a larger portfolio, and review Property Accountants’ close work, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Perform bank reconciliations and cash balancing; investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly
• Review rent rolls, receivables, security deposits, move-ins/move-outs and other resident accounting activity for completeness and accuracy
• Prepare monthly sales tax returns
• Set up new properties in Yardi
• Partner with property managers and operations teams to analyze results, explain budget-to-actual variances and identify follow-up actions
• Prepare budget schedules and reforecasts, load approved budgets into Yardi, and validate assumptions
• Partner with external accountants on year-end reviews and audit support
• Guide Property Accountants on close tasks, reconciliations and best practices
• Identify and lead process improvements that strengthen controls, improve accuracy and streamline workflows through standardization and automation
• Review invoice coding and monitor AP and AR activity for assigned properties

What You Bring

• 5+ years of property accounting experience (multifamily preferred)
• Hands-on Yardi Voyager experience and advanced Excel skills
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP
• Ability to manage multiple properties or entities while meeting recurring reporting deadlines
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent experience
• CPA or CPA candidacy a plus
