The Inland Real Estate Group, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our finance team in Downers Grove, IL.

The role supports GAAP-compliant monthly close, prepares financial statements, analyzes variances, and improves processes across corporate and property accounting functions. You will partner with departments, assist with audits, and help maintain internal controls while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college.
• 3–5 years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong GAAP and financial reporting proficiency.
• Excel and Outlook proficiency required.
• Analytical, organized, and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and multitasking.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Analyze results, research variances, and provide insights to management.
• Review general ledger activity for accuracy and completeness.
• Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and improve reporting.
• Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documents.
• Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support special projects and process improvements.
• Provide guidance and coordinate workflow within the accounting team.
• Assist with corporate and property accounting as needed.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Property Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate financial statements, supporting the month-end close process, analyzing financial activity, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is an analytical problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys improving processes while maintaining financial accuracy.

What You'll Do

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Analyze financial results, research variances, and provide meaningful insights to management.
• Review and understand general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and completeness.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university.
• 3 to 5 years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Property accounting experience.
• Experience working with Yardi accounting software.
• Previous experience supporting audits and financial statement preparation.

Annual Base Salary Range

$86,558 - $108,197. This position is eligible to participate in the company's annual discretionary bonus program.
