Job Description:
Position: The Auburn University RFID Laboratory, affiliated with multiple colleges on campus, invites applications for the Sr. Research Engineer, Retail Applications. This position is a 12-month non-tenure track role.
About the RFID Lab: The Auburn University RFID Lab is a leader in RFID research and technology application. It collaborates with partners to develop specialized RFID and serialized identification sensor technologies, enhancing data capture systems across various fields. The Lab includes simulated environments such as factories, warehouses, retail spaces, and food formats, and engages in research areas including engineering, food safety, logistics, and wireless technologies. Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Managing Director, the primary role is to oversee and manage daily operations of the Retail RFID Identification Lab. Responsibilities include planning experiments, managing lab data and systems, ensuring data quality, developing research concepts, and supporting faculty and industry projects.
Specific duties include:
- Aiding in daily retail operations, managing experiments, lab data, and reporting to meet schedules and procedures.
- Developing and maintaining large RFID, EPC, and UPC data sets; analyzing data to support the Lab's mission.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to identify improvements and develop solutions, providing ongoing support for implementation.
- Designing reports, dashboards, and operational metrics to aid stakeholders and leadership in decision-making.
- Communicating with external partners, supporting program initiatives, and disseminating research findings via publications and presentations.
- Supporting sponsored projects, external partnerships, and university fundraising activities.
- Overseeing research projects, managing lab staff, and training students on equipment use.
- Traveling as necessary for recruitment, events, and research activities.
- Providing guidance and performance feedback to team members, performing additional duties as assigned.
