Sr. Energy Storage Network Engineer - Renewables

Location: FULL-TIME REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)

This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture with strong private equity backing, focused on the development, execution, and operations of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects.

They are at the forefront of the industry, having accumulated over 9GW of projects in a relatively short period, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase, including the addition of a Sr. Network Engineer to the Asset Management Team.

This is a business-critical role that will help drive the Asset Management strategy in Operational Technology (OT), Network Engineering, Telecommunication Systems, and Automated Control Systems across the portfolio. It involves hands-on work leading the development of network and communication control system architecture for innovative utility-scale renewable energy projects involving battery storage technology. The control system architecture will also integrate with a proprietary in-house data-driven decision-making platform.

Responsibilities:

1. Acts as an SME for all network management, control center design, telecommunication engineering, and operational technology.
2. Owns control systems architecture, integrations, algorithms, network models, and conceptual design based on ISO/RTO requirements.
3. Leads the design and configuration of LANs and WANs, including hardware such as firewalls, routers, switches, and supporting wireless tech.
4. Oversees installation and integration of fiber optics, Ethernet, virtual and physical servers, ensuring network security.
5. Manages OT Network performance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supervises third-party contractors.
6. Provides technical assessments of grid-tied inverter software and hardware solutions, including plant commissioning and construction.
7. Drives cybersecurity, system recovery, backup, and security audits across assets.
8. Leads stakeholder communication with Renewable Developers, Regulatory bodies, ISOs, and internal partners.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline (Electrical, Power Control Systems, Network Engineering, Telecommunications, IC&E, Automation).
• Experience with OT network commissioning, site reviews, and project execution.
• Ability to provide technical assessments of renewable energy grid-tied inverter solutions.
• Experience in defining telecommunication network operational scopes and technical requirements.
• Proficiency with network performance diagnosis tools like Wireshark and NMAP.
• Skilled in network security measures (firewalls, intrusion detection, encryption) with experience in Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco.
• Understanding of communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, TCP/IP.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity standards (NERC/CIP, NIST).
• Ability to design and maintain complex WAN and LAN systems.
• Proven expertise in TCP/IP services, managing Cisco/Palo Alto/Fortinet firewalls, IP routing, VLANs, and fiber optics.
• Familiarity with OT hardware/software (Ignition, PLC, RTU) is preferred.
• Basic scripting knowledge (batch, shell).
