Job summary

Burkert USA Corp is seeking a skilled Metrology Technician to lead QA metrology for multiple manufacturing work centers, develop CMM programs, and ensure high-precision inspection readiness. You will work with engineering to validate designs and optimize measurement processes, using SAP, Delta Master, Power BI and Excel.

The role requires 5+ years in high-precision manufacturing, ASME Y14.5 GD&T expertise, and an associate/metrology-focused degree; a bachelor’s is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Precision Machining or Metrology, 5+ years of high-level technical experience.
  • Advanced GD&T knowledge per ASME Y14.5.
  • Proven experience translating measurement data into actionable feedback for teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the dedicated quality assurance metrology technician for all manufacturing work centers.
  • Develop and manage Quality-Metrology lab through capability, asset management, and budgeting.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and provide data-driven feedback to improve part yield and consistency.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize CMM programs for complex components and prototypes.
  • Perform high-level First Article Inspections (FAI) to ensure production readiness.
  • Oversee the Metrology Lab and maintain a gold standard for precision measurement.
  • Collaborate with engineering to validate designs and prototypes against specs.
  • Drive continuous improvements, including new tech, software updates, and standards.
  • Utilize SAP and Delta Master to extract and analyze production/quality data.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the dedicated quality assurance - metrology technician for all manufacturing work centers.
  • Develop and Manage Quality- Metrology lab thru capability, asset management, and overall budgeting
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and provide data-driven feedback to improve part consistency and yield.
  • Partner to develop Form, Fit, and Functions gages to be utilized at work centers.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programs for complex components.
  • Perform high-level First Article Inspections (FAI) to ensure production readiness.
  • Oversee the Metrology Lab, maintaining a "gold standard" environment for precision measurement.
  • Validate new designs and prototypes through rigorous technical testing and inspection.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to conduct validation testing, ensuring new products meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Identify potential manufacturing risks during the design phase to streamline the transition to mass production.
  • Co-partner the site-wide calibration program to ensure all measurement tools are accurate and compliant.
  • Drive continuous improvements within the Metrology Lab, including the implementation of new technology, software updates, and organizational standards
  • Utilize SAP and Delta Master to extract and analyze production and quality data.
  • Generate and manage performance metrics for established KPIs, such as First Pass Yield (FPY), Scrap, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), Internal PPM, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Production Order Reliability.
  • Build and maintain automated dashboards in Power BI and Excel to visualize trends and lab efficiency.
  • Develop and deliver technical reports and continuous improvement presentations using PowerPoint for management and cross-functional teams.
  • Utilize data from the lab to identify trends and implement root-cause corrective actions.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven experience in CMM programming (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) and advanced manual measurement tools.
  • Advanced skills in Excel (data modeling/pivot tables), Power BI (dashboard creation), and PowerPoint. Experience using SAP for quality management and Delta Master for business intelligence/reporting is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, geometric code, and blueprint reading.
  • Expert-level knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Ability to translate complex measurement data into actionable feedback for manufacturing and design teams.
  • 5+ years in a high-precision manufacturing environment, specifically supporting NPD and CNC operations.
  • An associate\'s degree in Precision Machining or Metrology combined with 5+ years of high-level technical experience.
  • A bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metrology, or a related technical field is a plus.
  • Advanced certification in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)—ASME Y14.5 Professional Certification is highly preferred.
  • ASQ (American Society for Quality) Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), or ability to acquire within one year.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt to support the Continuous Improvement focus of the role or ability to acquire within one year.
