The Fremont facility is a full-service enclosure systems manufacturing plant located in California’s Silicon Valley. It produces low-to-mid volume NPI runs to full-scale volume, offering everything from small parts to fully integrated systems. Job Description

As the Fremont Fabrication Quality Manager, you will develop a world-class quality department and drive plant-wide continuous improvement for exceptional quality performance. You will reinforce foundational quality principles while developing innovative manufacturing and inspection processes at the forefront of automation and fabrication technology. Your responsibilities include managing all functions of the site’s Quality Management System (QMS), including receiving inspection, quality engineering, supplier quality, and QC laboratory management.

Responsibilities

1. Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures in compliance with corporate procurement systems.
2. Lead and mentor the QA Department, including quality engineers, receiving inspection, and QC personnel.
3. Promote a 'Quality First' culture across the plant.
4. Communicate effectively with customers regarding quality issues, visits, and escalations.
5. Maintain and improve the site QMS, including NCR and CAPA systems, audits, and training.
6. Ensure QMS compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100:2016, coordinating certification audits.
7. Oversee quality planning for NPI and production parts, including PFMEAs, process flows, and control plans.
8. Develop and track quality KPIs such as first pass yield and scrap rates.
9. Interface with regulatory agencies and recommend policies to ensure compliance.
10. Collaborate with customers, suppliers, engineering, and manufacturing on quality matters.
11. Champion lean and Six Sigma principles and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
12. Lead cross-functional projects to verify and validate manufacturing processes.
13. Participate in DFM reviews with engineering.
14. Drive a zero-defect mentality throughout the organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities

1. Lead and motivate staff, providing advanced quality engineering, supplier management, and inspection expertise.
2. Align quality objectives with business goals and support employee development.
3. Set and monitor quality objectives and performance metrics.
4. Manage and lead cross-functional teams.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Aerospace, or Quality Management preferred.
• At least 12 years in quality engineering within manufacturing, with experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, painting, electromechanical integration, and clean room assembly.
• Proficient in reading GD&T and quality tools like FMEAs, control plans, CAPA, RCCA, and 8D.
• Experience in ISO 9001 environments; AS9100 experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, including statistical analysis techniques.
• Experience with machining and system integration preferred.
• Familiarity with CMMs and laser inspection systems is advantageous.
• Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.
• Experience with internal audits and ERP systems like Oracle is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
