Job summary

Canopy A&D in Ontario, CA is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to strengthen the QMS across aerospace manufacturing operations. You will develop procedures, track KPIs, manage internal and supplier corrective actions, and drive AS9100D audit readiness.

You will collaborate with Quality Leadership and cross‑functional teams to improve compliance, standardize processes, and deliver measurable quality improvements in a fast-paced production and R&D environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or related field; 5+ years aerospace quality experience.
  • AS9100D experience and internal audits.
  • Strong capability in procedures, SOPs, and controlled documentation.
  • Experience managing customer corrective actions and nonconformances.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, revise, and maintain quality procedures per AS9100D.
  • Support QMS across multiple sites and audits.
  • Lead internal audits and corrective action follow-up.
  • Track and report Quality KPIs and NCR trends.
  • Generate executive quality metrics for leadership reviews.
  • Investigate root causes using 8D/5 Why methodologies.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to support and strengthen the Canopy A&D Quality Management System across multiple aerospace manufacturing operations. This role is heavily focused on procedure development, KPI tracking and reporting, internal and external corrective action management, and AS9100D audit readiness.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically strong, and capable of driving quality initiatives across operations, engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, and customer interfaces. This individual must have hands‑on aerospace quality systems experience and be comfortable operating in a fast‑paced production and R&D environment.

This role will work directly with Quality Leadership to improve compliance, standardize processes, support internal audits, and drive measurable operational improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, revise, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, forms, and process documentation in alignment with AS9100D requirements
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) across multiple operational sites
  • Lead and support internal audits in accordance with AS9100D and ISO 9001 standards, including audit planning, execution, reporting, and corrective action follow‑up
  • Track and report Quality KPIs including First Pass Yield, Customer Rejection Rate, Supplier Escapements, NCR trends, corrective action metrics, and on‑time quality performance
  • Generate executive‑level quality reports and metrics for leadership review and management review activities
  • Lead investigations and root cause analysis activities related to internal nonconformances, customer complaints, escapes, and supplier issues utilizing structured problem‑solving methodologies such as 8D and 5 Why analysis
  • Manage corrective and preventive actions from initiation through verification of effectiveness
  • Interface directly with customers regarding quality concerns, corrective actions, audit support, and quality documentation requests
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Manufacturing teams to drive process compliance and operational improvements
  • Support customer audits, registrar audits, and regulatory compliance activities
  • Assist in development of training materials and quality system awareness initiatives across the organization
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards, customer requirements, and internal company procedures
  • Support supplier quality initiatives, quality clause reviews, and external provider oversight as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing quality engineering or quality systems
  • Direct experience working within an AS9100D-certified environment
  • Hands‑on experience conducting AS9100D internal audits
  • Strong understanding of aerospace quality systems, corrective action management, and root cause analysis methodologies
  • Experience developing and maintaining procedures, SOPs, and controlled documentation
  • Experience managing customer corrective actions and internal nonconformance investigations
  • Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, traceability requirements, and inspection methodologies
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced aerospace manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • AS9100D Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification
  • Experience with QT9, JobBoss, Epicor, or similar QMS/ERP systems
  • Experience supporting management review activities and KPI dashboard development
  • Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
  • Experience supporting Space, Defense, or launch vehicle programs
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience preferred
Job Details

Type: Full-time, Exempt

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000 salary depending on experience

Base Location: Ontario, CA

Travel: None

  • Good with Prolonged standing, walking, and computer work
  • Occasional lifting, stooping, kneeling, or reaching
  • Ability to navigate and access shelving in warehouse areas
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Total compensation will also include a comprehensive set of benefits including but not limited to: Company paid employee medical, dental and vision insurance. Retirement plan participation (eligibility required), paid sick leave, paid vacation, paid holidays and discretionary bonuses.
