Job summary

Spatial Front, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to modernize legacy SAS processing by converting it to Python and deploying on AWS.

The role focuses on cloud-based data processing, AI infrastructure, and SAS-to-Python modernization for government-like data, with remote work options and occasional customer meetings. US Citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance are required.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship with ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
• AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification or above is desired.
• Python (5+ years).
• AWS Cloud Development (+4 years).
• System Engineering (4+ years).

Responsibilities

• Understand the processes used to handle Trade and Worker Demographics statistical data.
• Modernize two large mainly on-prem processing systems that uses SAS script with cloud supported technology, using python as the main target language.
• Code data processing systems, based on existing Legacy processing.
• Convert existing SAS code to human requirements, refining/improving the requirements, and then implementing a new processing system
• Implement new processing capabilities on the AWS Cloud, making use of native cloud functionality and existing AI capabilities

Spatial Front, Inc. (SFI) was recently awarded the 2025 USA Today National Top Places to Work award and the 2025 Washington Post Top Workplaces.

Project Overview

Support the customer’s missions including application development, rapid prototyping, standards development, and research and development of new technologies. This is a Cloud / AI Infrastructure, SAS-to-Python Conversion resource, focusing on initial projects to convert existing (SAS) legacy apps into modern apps.

Work Location

Remote with ability to be available for customer meetings

Summary Of Major Job Functions

• In order to meet the clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be US Citizen.
