Cogir Senior Living, headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ, seeks a Senior Property Accountant to manage financial reporting, forecasting, and cash management for a portfolio of senior living communities. This role reports to the Property Controller at the Scottsdale office.

The candidate will prepare statements, perform variance analysis, coordinate with community leaders, and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies. Hybrid work with minimal travel is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required; master's a plus.
• Minimum 2–4 years of senior accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills preferred; Yardi experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a portfolio of communities.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and timely reporting deadlines.
• Perform variance analysis, budgeting support, and periodic reporting.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Monitor AP/AR, payroll, and inventory with site bookkeepers.
• Coordinate with regional and executive leadership for reporting.
• Forecast cash flows and complete bank reconciliations.
• Ensure proper documentation of accounting records and policies.
• Support external reporting to investors/lenders/CPAs.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for the financial reporting, forecasting, and cash management of a portfolio of senior living communities. This position reports to the Property Controller and is located at the corporate office in Scottsdale, AZ.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a portfolio of communities.
• Financials will be prepared in compliance with GAAP and within applicable reporting deadlines.
• Prepare monthly report variance analysis, assist with annual budgets, and other periodic reporting.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation for each community.
• Monitor/oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and inventory conducted at each community by the Business Office Director (community's bookkeeper).
• Regular communication and coordination with each community's Regional VPO, Executive Director, and Business Office Director.
• Monitor community cash activity daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and estimates as needed. Complete bank account reconciliations.
• Coordinate/oversee compliance with applicable accounting policies and procedures by Community Business Office Directors.
• Responsible for meeting all external financial reporting requirements required by the company's external investors/lenders/CPAs.
• Responsible for ensuring all community accounting records and documentation are maintained properly.
• Responsible for reporting community bank requirements.
• Responsible for tracking capital improvement projects as required by the community.
• Other responsibilities as requested.

Requirements

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• A bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• A master's degree is a plus.

Experience, Competencies, and Skills:

• At least two to four (2-4) years of senior accounting experience is required.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, accuracy, and exceptional attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills are preferred.
• Yardi software experience is preferred.
• Experience with multi-company accounting is a plus.
• Strong communication, analytical, and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.

• Monday to Friday
• Hybrid (in-office Scottsdale) with work-from-home flexibility.
• Minimal travel will be required.
