Job summary

Sundt is seeking a Project Superintendent to plan, coordinate, and supervise field and administrative operations for projects on-site in Temple, TX. The role includes safety, costs, productivity, profitability, and quality oversight, with potential progression to Sr. Project Superintendent I/II for larger programs.

The successful candidate will lead project teams, coordinate schedules, and manage subcontractors, ensuring work aligns with contract terms, LEAN practices, and client expectations.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills are essential.
  • Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience required.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods), negotiations, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety.
  • Must have construction project and supervision experience in similar types of facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the review of shop drawings, submittals, subcontract change orders and purchase orders.
  • Conduct weekly coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors and prepare daily field status reports.
  • Coordinate documentation of design conflicts and clarifications with the appropriate personnel.
  • Develop and manage the construction plan for the successful execution of the work performed.
  • Ensure work is executed according to contract terms and conditions in a profitable manner.
  • Interact with owners, teams and stakeholders to maintain a positive project environment and client experience.
  • Prepare and update the CPM Project Schedule and keep it current, using LEAN processes and weekly work plans.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to assigned project team members and subcontractors.
  • Responsible for project success including profitability, safety, schedule, quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement Project Quality Management and Safety plans according to Sundt standards.
  • Complete punch lists timely and schedule startup and commissioning of all systems.

Job Summary

The Project Superintendent (PS) will plan, coordinate, and supervise the field and/or administrative operations of projects. They will provide technical direction and have responsibility for the safety, costs, productivity, profitability, and overall quality of the work (including self‑performed work) for the project(s). The PS will establish productivity goals and measure performance as well as schedule labor, materials, and equipment, including the work of subcontractors and may supervise one or more field superintendents. This position includes "steps", which provide for a progression of skill and experience. - Sr. Project Superintendent I is capable of fairly large projects of $51‑$100 million in size with typically 10‑15 years' experience. - Sr. Project Superintendent II is capable of larger projects of a complex nature and/or multiple projects totaling $100‑$199 million and typically with a minimum of 15 years' of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  7. Prepares and updates the original CPM Project Schedule and ensures the schedule is kept current to manage the project appropriately while utilizing LEAN processes and weekly work plans.
  8. Provides leadership and guidance to assigned project team members and subcontractors.
  9. Responsible for project success, including profitability, safety, schedule, quality and customer satisfaction.
  10. Responsible for the development and implementation of the Project Quality Management and Safety plans according to Sundt standards.
  11. Responsible for the timely completion of all punch lists and develops a schedule as required by the owner for the successful start‑up and commissioning of all systems.

Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
  2. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  3. May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
  4. May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
  5. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  6. Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
  7. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  8. Will interact with people frequently during a shift/work day.
  9. Will lift, push or pull objects on an occasional basis.
  10. Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
