Job description

Job Description

The Project Superintendent (PS) will plan, coordinate, and supervise the field and/or administrative operations of projects. They will provide technical direction and have responsibility for the safety, costs, productivity, profitability, and overall quality of the work (including self‑performed work) for the project(s). The PS will establish productivity goals and measure performance, schedule labor, materials, and equipment—including subcontractor work—and may supervise one or more field superintendents. This position includes progression steps for skill and experience: Sr. Project Superintendent I is capable of fairly large projects of $51–100 million with typically 10–15 years experience; Sr. Project Superintendent II is capable of larger, complex, or multiple projects totaling $100–199 million with a minimum of 15 years experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the review of shop drawings, submittals, subcontract change orders, and purchase orders.
  • Conduct weekly coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors and prepare daily field status reports.
  • Coordinate documentation of design conflicts and clarifications with appropriate personnel.
  • Develop and manage the construction plan for the successful execution of the work performed.
  • Ensure work is executed according to contract terms and conditions in a profitable manner.
  • Interact effectively with owners, teams, and other stakeholders to maintain a positive project environment and exceptional client experience.
  • Prepare and update the original CPM project schedule and keep it current to manage the project appropriately while utilizing LEAN processes and weekly work plans.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to assigned project team members and subcontractors.
  • Be responsible for project success, including profitability, safety, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement the project quality management and safety plans according to Sundt standards.
  • Ensure timely completion of all punch lists and develop a schedule for successful start‑up and commissioning of all systems.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills are essential.
  • Four‑year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), negotiations, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety.
  • Construction project and supervision experience in similar types of facilities.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard‑hat, vest).
  • Frequent reach above shoulder height and below the waist; occasional stoop, kneel, or bend.
  • Use of telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
  • Compliance with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Occasional stairs, ladders, etc.
  • Frequent use of hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects; occasional lift, push, or pull.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift or workday.
