Following the conclusion of mining activities at our flagship Buckhorn underground mine in 2017, our operation now manages properties at various stages of exploration, development, care & maintenance, and closure.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for ensuring the mechanical designs and engineering solutions for the Curlew Basin restart program are implemented.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant mechanical engineering codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Manages the execution of mechanical scopes, including piping, tanks, pumps, mechanical equipment, and structural supports.
  • Advises on technical queries, RFIs, and provides field engineering support on unforeseen construction issues.
  • Leads field fitting activities where design gaps or discrepancies are identified.
  • Reviews and interprets construction drawings, mechanical specifications, and vendor documents.
  • Oversees installation per design and code requirements, and coordinates with contractors, where required.
  • Monitors quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) in the field and report non-conformances.
  • Support material receiving, verification, and installation tracking.
  • Participates in pre-commissioning and mechanical completion activities.
  • Contributes to and support the commissioning and handover of the refurbished systems to the operations team.
  • Responsible for the preparation and presentation of daily reports, progress reports, and documentation for stakeholders and the project team.
  • Participates in project meetings and contribute to planning, risk management, and safety assessments.
  • Oversees and verifies mechanical designs, P&IDs, and equipment layouts to align with the scope of work.
  • Advises on the pre-mobilization planning, and ensure contractors understand the scope of work.
  • Ensures compliance with MSHA and site-specific safety protocols.
  • Capable of performing field work required through all seasons.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in mining, or heavy construction industries.
  • Experience in supporting large-scale industrial construction projects. (Process Plants, Dewatering plants, and Water treatment plants)
  • Strong understanding of mining, milling and maintenance operations.
  • Strong understanding of process piping, rotating equipment, mechanical fabrication, and field welding.
  • Ability to read and redline P&IDs, isometric drawings, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Proficient in field fitting and resolving constructability issues in real time.
  • Working knowledge of MSHA regulations and U.S. construction standards.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with CAD software programs. (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, ect).
  • MSHA 5000-23 certification required.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of the team.
  • Position is based in Republic, Washington, but includes travel to other site locations and for stakeholder interactions.
