About The Opportunity
Our client is a leading real estate investment and development company specializing in the investment, development, construction, and management of multifamily communities. They are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in multifamily construction, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field.
The Senior Project Manager will support the Regional Lead of Construction by managing project schedules, budgets, contracts, approvals, deliveries, submittals, and construction activities. This position will oversee third-party vendors and multiple contractors while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within scope, and within budget.
Project Overview
The position will support a major multifamily development project in Long Beach, California, located along Pacific Coast Highway near Alamitos Bay.
The Project Includes
- Demolition of an existing office building park and two office buildings.
- Early work activities involving utility relocation, landfill settlement, deepened foundations, and methane mitigation systems.
- Construction of a 7-level, approximately 215,951-square-foot parking garage with approximately 577 parking spaces.
- Development of 390 residential units surrounding the parking structure.
- A podium-style multifamily development consisting of five wood-framed residential stories over concrete construction.
- Extensive coordination involving site development, foundations, structural work, utilities, residential construction, and multiple contractors and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project buyout, subcontractor selection, and contract negotiations.
- Manage project budgets, job costs, forecasting, and financial objectives.
- Monitor and maintain the overall construction schedule and track project progress through site reports.
- Conduct onsite inspections to ensure construction meets approved plans, specifications, quality standards, and schedules.
- Review and approve contractor invoices, change orders, and project expenditures.
- Ensure project costs remain aligned with approved budgets and financial projections.
- Lead assigned projects through timely completion, scope requirements, budget projections, and Certificate of Occupancy.
- Review development and redevelopment activities and provide effective project management throughout construction.
- Manage and coordinate third-party vendors, general contractors, subcontractors, and multiple project stakeholders.
- Serve as a proactive liaison between onsite construction teams, third-party partners, and corporate departments.
- Hire, manage, mentor, and direct Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents.
- Maintain effective communication with senior leadership and project stakeholders.
- Identify potential project risks and develop solutions to keep projects on track.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in construction or a related field.
- 7+ years of multifamily construction project management experience.
- 7+ years of experience managing and leading teams.
- Podium construction experience is required.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, project management, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and standard Windows-based computer applications.
- Strong experience managing contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and project teams.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects under demanding schedules.
- OSHA 30-hour certification, issued within the past three years.
- Current First Aid & CPR certification.
- Must be able to successfully complete a drug screening following a conditional offer of employment.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $180,000 - $200,000
