The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading complex projects or managing multiple significant workstreams within large programs. This role requires expert-level project management, strategic influence, and deep knowledge of best practices to ensure successful project delivery that aligns directly with the overall company strategy and current market conditions. The Senior Project Manager acts as a trusted advisor and key communicator across all stakeholder levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Program/Workstream Management: Manages complex projects or multiple workstreams within a broader project or program, defining scope, and driving execution.
- Planning & Monitoring: Develops, implements, and rigorously monitors project plans, contributing significant expertise to major deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
- Strategic Alignment: Serves as a trusted advisor to ensure project strategies are aligned with the overall company strategy and market conditions.
- Best Practices: Provides strategic insight on best practices and common obstacles based on extensive prior experiences.
Communication & Stakeholder Influence
- Executive Communication: Maintains strong communication skills (verbal and written), capable of translating technical concepts to business and executive audiences, and meticulously documenting project details.
- Reporting: Communicates project status and critical issues regularly to all stakeholders, including senior leaders, team members, and senior managers.
- Relationship Management: Builds and maintains effective, influential relationships, proactively fostering seamless communication between internal and external project stakeholders.
- Decision Influence: Influences key decisions across diverse stakeholder groups to secure alignment and necessary resources.
- Follow-Up: Demonstrates exceptional ability to track action items and follow-ups to completion.
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identifies, manages, and strategically mitigates risks and any related project issues across complex projects.
- Problem Solving: Develops and communicates solutions on key issues or projects to management and stakeholders, obtaining necessary input and buy-in for implementation.
- Additional Duties: Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: Minimum of five years of related work experience.
- Project Management Experience: Two years of managing a project is preferred.
- Industry Preference: Financial Services and function-specific experience is preferred.
- Education: Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
