Job summary

ELLKAY is seeking a Sr. Project Manager to drive successful delivery of complex, cross-functional projects within healthcare data and interoperability initiatives.

You will mentor peers, lead strategic improvements, and ensure alignment with client needs and contractual deliverables. The ideal candidate brings deep healthcare technology experience, strong stakeholder management, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset to propel delivery excellence across product lines.

  • Oversee full lifecycle implementation of complex healthcare data, interoperability, or migration projects, including planning, execution, and deployment across multiple ELLKAY product lines.
  • Lead high-impact client engagements that require advanced technical knowledge, cross-department coordination, and strategic stakeholder alignment.
  • Own project planning and execution: create detailed project plans, manage resource allocation, track milestones, and ensure on-time, in-scope delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project communications and status updates with internal and external stakeholders, including executive sponsors.
  • Manage and resolve risks, issues, scope changes, and interdependencies across technology, business, and client functions.

Job Description

Sr. Project Managers at ELLKAY are accountable for driving the successful delivery of complex, cross-functional projects across the ELLKAY product suite, ensuring high-quality outcomes that support healthcare clients’ evolving needs. This role combines hands-on project leadership with people development and process improvement. In addition to directly managing high-priority client implementations, Sr. PMs serve as mentors and escalation points for other project managers, helping to continuously elevate the performance and impact of the broader delivery team. Ideal candidates bring deep experience in healthcare technology, exceptional organizational and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence both internal and client teams. The Sr. PM ensures delivery excellence, cultivates strong client relationships, and drives innovation in implementation practices and team operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Project Delivery Leadership

  • Lead high-impact client engagements that require advanced technical knowledge, cross-department coordination, and strategic stakeholder alignment.
  • Own project planning and execution: create detailed project plans, manage resource allocation, track milestones, and ensure on-time, in-scope delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project communications and status updates with internal and external stakeholders, including executive sponsors.
  • Manage and resolve risks, issues, scope changes, and interdependencies across technology, business, and client functions.
  • Define and enforce success criteria across projects; ensure high client satisfaction and alignment with contractual deliverables.
People Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and operational support to project managers and junior staff within the department.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for project and client issues that require elevated attention.
  • Contribute to onboarding, training, and knowledge transfer across the project management team.
  • Foster a high-performance team culture that emphasizes collaboration, quality, and ownership.
Process & Strategic Improvement
  • Identify and champion opportunities to optimize delivery methodologies, tools, and workflows.
  • Recommend and help implement improvements to team processes, documentation standards, and project reporting frameworks.
  • Contribute to internal strategic initiatives aimed at improving client outcomes, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Participate in department-wide planning and alignment efforts with Product, Engineering, QA, and Sales teams.

  • Strong understanding of EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech), ancillary systems, or other clinical data platforms.
  • Proficiency with healthcare data exchange standards and formats (e.g., HL7, FHIR, CCD, APIs, CSV, XML).
  • Familiarity with interoperability workflows and integration patterns between healthcare systems.
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols and data transmission methods (e.g., SFTP, VPN, TCP/IP).
  • Comfortable leading technical conversations and collaborating with engineering, QA, and product teams.
Education/Training/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, technology, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of project management experience, with 2+ years in a senior-level or lead role.
  • Experience delivering implementations within healthcare IT or health data environments required.
  • Demonstrated success leading projects across multiple departments or product lines simultaneously.
  • PMP or other project management certification strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office Suite, Asana, Vision,Jira, Confluence).
