Job summary

SubCom seeks a Project Manager to lead subsea telecommunications projects, coordinating a matrix of internal teams from PM to Finance and Operations. The role covers from pre-award through RFPA, driving margins and revenue while managing contracts and customer relations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in project management, strong negotiation and contract skills, and proven leadership of cross-functional teams in complex environments. Travel both domestic and international is expected.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in engineering, business, or technical discipline; at least 5 years of related work experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet commitments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience negotiating, managing project P/L, risk management, and contract terms.
  • Experience leading large cross-functional teams on undersea or construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage P/L of project including increasing margin and revenue.
  • Develop project strategy to increase revenue/margin.
  • Develop risk analysis and project strategy to mitigate and reduce risks to SubCom.
  • Negotiate project changes.
  • Manage the customer relationship, project notices and project changes.
  • Establish and meet project objectives by analyzing contract deliverables and collaborating with project team members.
  • Achieve financial objectives on the project and review variances.
  • Promote SubCom values and foster regional team spirit across functions.

Manage the customer relationship, project notices and project changes.Establish and meet project objectives by analyzing contract deliverables and collaborating with project team members.Achieve financial objectives on the project and review/understand variances.Informing leadership team of key project issues.Promote a culture that reflects SubCom’s values, encourages outstanding performance and promotes positive work environment, as well as strengthening regional team spirit within and across other functions. Reward productivity as part of an ongoing process to establish SubCom as an employer of choice.QualificationsGM experience desired.Entrepreneurial experience.Experience in negotiations, managing the P/L of projects, strategy development/implementation, risk management, and contract management a must.Experience in managing large cross functional projects or leading a team on undersea or construction projects. Experience matrix-managing a team is useful.Understanding of contract language.Demonstrated ability to solve problems within own position, across organizations, and with customers.Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required.International and domestic travel to support customer meetings as needed.BA/BS degree in an Engineering, Business, or technical discipline; and at least 5 years related work experience.Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while meeting contractual and organizational commitments.Excellent communication, verbal, presentation and written skills.Ability to work well in matrix-style teams with persons from different organizations, job types and cultural backgrounds.Strong leadership qualities and the ability to complete assignments with little supervisory oversite.Excellent communication and coaching skills at all levels from the shop floor to top management, including the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English.Strong team leader, ability to think strategically and execute tactically to deliver results.Analytically, data-driven and a problem-solving mindset.Ability to have a holistic overview of complex situations and flexibility to deal effectively with difficult issues when they arise.Must have experience with the efficient uses of office tools such as MS Outlook, Excel PowerPoint, Teams.Must be able to lead and communicate in both face-to-face and virtual environments.NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
