Job summary

Impact Housing is seeking a Project Engineer to support office and field engineering activities for multi-family modular construction projects in San Diego, CA. You will help obtain, evaluate, coordinate, distribute, and record project information and authorizations to enable successful construction.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Project Manager and Superintendent, facilitating change orders, maintaining documentation, and supporting safety and quality programs throughout

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years in commercial and podium multi-family construction.
  • General knowledge of construction principles/practices.
  • Smartsheet and Acumatica experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Project Manager to establish procedures for information flow, approvals, meetings, reporting, applications for payment, among design professionals, consultants and owner.
  • Coordinate with the Project Superintendent to establish information flow with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist the Project Manager to ensure timely buyouts and adherence to schedule requirements.
  • Assist the Project Manager in administering change orders.
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records.
  • Assist in preparing various studies, recommendations or materials and methods, and cost estimates.
  • Examine documents for constructability and report potential design deficiencies or code issues for resolution.
  • Assist with project close-out, including processing guarantees, acceptance of work, final payment and records retention.
  • Quality control and project closeout.
  • Implement all applicable safety programs on project

Impact Housing (IH) is a vertically integrated modular design-builder and developer headquartered in Southern California.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Project Engineer assists in office and field engineering activities and provides the support required to obtain, evaluate, coordinate, distribute, and record information and obtain all authorizations needed to construct the project.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the Project Manager to establish procedures forinformation flow, approvals, meetings, reporting, applications forpayment, etc., among the design professionals, consultants and owner.
  • Work with the Project Superintendent to establish procedures withsubcontractors and suppliers for information flow, approvals,meetings, reporting, applications for payment, etc.
  • Assists the Project Manager to ensure timely buyouts and overallcompliance with schedule requirements.
  • Assists the Project Manager in the administration of change orders.
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records.
  • Assist in preparing various studies, recommendations or materialsand methods, and cost estimates during project development.
  • Assist the project team in examining all documents forconstructability, seeking out suspected design deficiencies,impractical details and code violations. Bring all concerns to theattention of the project team for resolution.
  • Assist with the project close-out, including processing of allguarantees, acceptance of work, final payment and recordsretention.
  • Quality control and project closeout
  • Implement all applicable safety programs on project
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years in commercial and podium multi-family construction required. Modular experience is a plus!
  • General knowledge of construction principles/practices required
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of San Diego trades and permit process a plus
  • Solid computer skills, with a working knowledge of MS Office. Smartsheet and Acumatica a plus
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
