Job Title: Sr. Project Development Manager

Location: Remote; Charlotte, NC; or McKinney, TX

Reports to: VP, Development

FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt

Forsite Renewables, LLC (www.forsiterenewables.com), founded in 2019, is a Dallas-based, growing, and highly capitalized firm, majority-owned by Galway Sustainable Capital, that focuses on acquiring and siting renewable opportunities around legacy fossil-fueled power plants. Forsite is actively developing projects in Montana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Illinois, and Maryland.

Forsite’s proven leadership team is seeking a Sr. Project Development Manager to oversee the development process for our growing portfolio of renewable energy projects.

Job Description:

The Sr. Project Development Manager will lead and manage all aspects of the development process for renewable energy projects, ensuring successful project execution from inception to completion. This role requires in-depth knowledge of project management, renewable energy technologies, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Development Strategy and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement development strategies for renewable energy projects, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and technological advancements that impact project development.

Project Development:

  • Manage and perform the preparation and submission of project proposals and development plans for solar, wind, and other renewable energy projects.
  • Coordinate and oversee feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical evaluations required for project development.
  • Directly engage with local, state, and federal agencies to discuss and submit the required development materials needed to progress the project to completion.
  • Ensure timely progression of all development activities to meet project timelines.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with landowners, regulatory agencies, local authorities, community groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in public meetings, hearings, and consultations to address development concerns and obtain community support.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including project permitting, engineering, and legal, to ensure comprehensive and compliant development plans.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, zoning, and land-use regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with project development and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement processes and protocols to streamline development activities and improve efficiency.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and present reports on project status, challenges, and solutions to project developers, senior management, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of all development activities, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Track and monitor project milestones and ensure ongoing compliance with development plans.
  • Create, manage and report on project budgets throughout the development lifecycle of projects managed.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Planning, or a related field. Advanced degree (Master’s, JD) preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project development, renewable energy, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing development activities for large-scale renewable energy projects.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies, project management, and development processes.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using project management and development software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with development of solar, battery storage, and wind energy projects.
  • Established relationships with regulatory agencies and environmental organizations.
  • Knowledge of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria and sustainability practices.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
