Job summary

Russell Tobin is partnering with a leading Biotech organization to identify an Indirect Procurement Specialist to support strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and procurement operations. The role is onsite in Hartford, CT on a 6-month contract with extension potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Extensive indirect procurement experience in a large corporate environment.
• Experience managing sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract execution, and procurement compliance end to end.
• Hands-on experience with a major Procure-to-Pay platform (Zycus, Coupa, Ariba, GEP or Ivalua).
• Experience negotiating contracts and collaborating with Legal teams.
• Strong knowledge of RFX/RFP processes, supplier evaluation, PO workflows, and procurement policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage RFX/RFP processes, contract negotiations, and approval workflows for indirect categories.
• Monitor requisitions, POs, and supplier confirmations through the P2P platform.
• Support P2P system training and guidance to ensure no-PO, no-pay compliance.
• Gather and evaluate supplier quotations, assess bids, and coordinate sourcing decisions.
• Negotiate pricing and contract terms to achieve competitive costs.
• Evaluate supplier performance and identify alternative sources when needed.
• Collaborate with Legal and stakeholders to support contract negotiations and execution.
• Support sourcing projects, vendor programs, catalog solutions, and discount initiatives.
• Manage procurement across indirect categories including Corporate/Professional Services, Office Supplies, IT Peripherals, Telecommunications, MRO/Facilities, Tail Spend, and Contractor Services.
• Ensure procurement processes follow policies, approvals, and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage RFX/RFP processes, contract negotiations, and functional approval workflows for assigned indirect procurement categories.
• Monitor requisitions, approvals, purchase orders, and supplier order confirmations through the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) platform.
• Support business requestors with P2P system training, troubleshooting, and guidance to ensure compliance with the no-PO, no-pay policy.
• Gather and evaluate supplier quotations, assess bids, and coordinate sourcing decisions with internal stakeholders.
• Negotiate pricing and contract terms to achieve competitive costs aligned with market benchmarks.
• Evaluate supplier performance and reliability, and identify alternative supply sources when existing vendors are no longer competitive.
• Collaborate with Legal and business stakeholders to support contract negotiations, reviews, and execution.
• Support sourcing projects, vendor program launches, catalog solutions, and supplier discount initiatives.
• Manage procurement activities across indirect categories, including Corporate and Professional Services, Office Supplies, IT Peripherals, Telecommunications, MRO/Facilities, Tail Spend, and Contractor Services.
• Ensure procurement processes follow established policies, approval requirements, and compliance standards.

Requirements

• College degree required.
• Extensive indirect procurement experience in a large corporate or enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, contract execution, and procurement compliance end to end.
• Critical requirement: hands-on experience with a major Procure-to-Pay platform such as Zycus, Coupa, Ariba, GEP, or Ivalua.
• Experience negotiating contracts and collaborating with Legal teams.
• Strong knowledge of RFX/RFP processes, supplier evaluation, purchase order workflows, and procurement policies.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple sourcing initiatives and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
