Job summary

Saint-Gobain in Garden Grove is seeking a site-based Senior Process Engineer to lead injection molding process development, new mold introductions, tooling optimization, production readiness, and continuous improvement. The role blends technical ownership with project delivery and cross-functional leadership to grow the process and tooling team.

Job description

Based in Garden Grove, this site-based Senior Process Engineer role leads injection molding process development, new mold introduction, tooling optimization, production readiness, and continuous improvement. The position combines technical ownership, project delivery, cross-functional leadership, and development of the process and tooling team.

  • New Mold Delivery: Owns new mold introductions from design review through production release, managing Gantt schedules, milestones, risks, trials, validation, documentation, production-readiness checklists, and escalation of deviations.
  • Process Optimization: Develops and standardizes injection molding processes, troubleshoots defects and instability, leads DOE and SPC activities, establishes process windows, and improves cycle time, yield, uptime, and productivity while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Cost and Scrap Reduction: Leads WCM savings projects and the site injection molding scrap-reduction strategy by analyzing defect trends, process data, downtime, material usage, and tooling performance, then validating documented savings.
  • Kaizen Leadership: Defines and hosts major Kaizen events, establishes measurable objectives and action plans, facilitates cross-functional problem solving, verifies sustained results, and coaches personnel in Lean and root-cause methods.
  • Tooling and Team Leadership: Provides technical direction for mold maintenance, modifications, reliability, tooling priorities, and CAPEX justifications while leading approximately three direct reports and coordinating broader project teams.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Maintains engineering standards and records, leads corrective and preventive actions, supports ISO 9001, safety, and Life Sciences requirements, manages change control, and ensures timely training and validation documentation.
  • Performance Targets: Expected results include stable capable processes, a sustained scrap rate below 2% subject to product mix and business targets, approximately 10–15% cycle-time improvement where feasible, on-time WCM and CAPEX delivery, complete documentation and training, and effective corrective actions.

Qualifications and Scope:

Requires an engineering bachelor's degree, at least 7 years in plastics manufacturing, at least 6 years of hands‑on injection molding experience, relevant project and statistical problem‑solving expertise, RGJ Master Molder I and Six Sigma Green Belt certification or timely attainment, and approximately 5–10% travel. The role may manage CAPEX projects up to approximately 1 million dollars and supports an operation with more than 7,000 product lines and approximately 90 employees.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $92,000 to $142,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $103,040 to $159,040. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
