General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) in Hampton, AR is seeking a Senior Principal Tool & Design Engineer to develop and design tools, dies, gauges, and fixtures for manufacturing and experimental setups. You will collaborate with plant and production teams to define tooling specifications and ensure alignment with quality standards.

You will utilize CAD to create precise models, assess costs and resources, and may oversee procurement of tooling.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree and 10-12 years of engineering experience.
  • Engineering degree required; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops complex tools and machinery used to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Reviews product design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications.
  • Develops designs for fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production.
  • Utilizes CAD to create accurate design models and documentation for fabrication.
  • Estimates costs, resource requirements, and materials for tools.
  • May manage sourcing, quoting, or procurement of purchased tools.

Essential Functions
  • Designs and develops complex tools and machinery used to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Reviews product design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications.
  • Develops designs for fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production.
  • Utilizes Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to create accurate, complete, and concise design models and documentation to fabricate tools.
  • Estimates costs, resource requirements, and materials required for tools.
  • May manage the sourcing, quoting, or procurement of purchased tools.
Required Qualifications
  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 10-12 years' experience
  • Discipline/Major: Engineering degree required
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Travel Requirements

Less than 25% travel likely.
